NVC - Embassy Phase (HELP !)

I received an email from the NVC addressed to my fiance stating they received my approved I-129F petition from USCIS and they will send this petition to the embassy where my fiance lives, which will take a couple of weeks.  It goes on to say that my fiance should “learn how to apply for a K visa” by visiting their website. I just want to make sure I am not getting ahead of myself by asking my fiance to apply for the visa now. I believe I am supposed to wait for a mailed letter before I ask my fiance to apply.  Does anyone have some guidance on this? Do we wait for a mailed letter and for the embassy to contact my fiance before applying for the visa, or is this the letter, which came via email, that lets us know to apply now ? Any input will be greatly appreciated.

How the visa application process is done varies by embassy, there is not a generic answer.

The embassy in Jakarta will e-mail you, the petitioner, when they've received the application. It will say the following:

In order for us to update beneficiary’s data, please inform the following information as soon as possible;

  1. Beneficiary’s update mailing address in Indonesia
  2. Beneficiary’s email address
  3. Beneficiary’s contact number

After you give them that info, the embassy will reach out to your fiancee.

Removing Conditions Timeline

Aug. 10, '17: Mailed in I-751

Aug. 21, '17: NOA1

October 23, '18: NOA2- approval

October 30, 18: 10-year GC received

Hi, I was wondering the same thing, but our case status has been “Ready” since November 14. Do you know how long typically the embassy will send the email to my fiancé after our case is received? I’m just worried that we’re missing something and make the process longer than it should’ve.

I don't know what typical is. For us, the embassy received our packet on January 29th, and I got the e-mail on February 4th. That was about 3 business days from the time they got it to the time they e-mailed me. Do you know if the embassy itself received your packet? Sorry, it's been a few years since I went through the process so I don't remember if "Ready" means it is at the embassy.

Assuming it means the embassy has it, you might want to e-mail them if they don't e-mail you by the end of this week (jakiv@state.gov).

Your not applying for anything at this stage. You will be contacted by your embassy after your case has arrived and your record set to "ready. The contact that takes place is normally what is called the P3 letter with all the instructions to complete a succesful interview.

Come join us over in the November NOA2 to Embassy thread found here

Please download the PDF file found on the first page, first post. This is where you can have some fun and come out from "the dark" which will give you tips, tricks and hacks to follow your record so you are always in the know.

Hope to see you their soon. Introduce yourself to the others.

Here is what the embassy will send you.

Yes correct, Ready means it was already received by the embassy and I should be able to proceed with the next steps (gathering documents, medical exam, paying fees, etc). I’m going to email them if we haven’t heard anything by the end of this week. Thank you!

I see. We didn’t even get the email that it’s shipped, I only checked our case status from the CEAC website saying it was received by the embassy on Nov 14, and haven’t heard anything ever since.
