Blindsided by NVC letter...forwarded to embassy but no NOA2?

Just a little shocked right now and looking for some guidance.

I filed an I-129 petition for a K1 visa for my foreign fiance on June 21st of this year (NOA1 June 21). We have been regularly checking the case status checker on the USCIS website for the last 5 months while waiting for NOA2. Given the current processing time of 5-7 months for NOA2, we weren't worried.

Today I received an email from the NVC stating that our file has been transferred to the US embassy in my fiance's home country. The letter stated that the NVC received our approved petition and will send the case to the embassy. I assume this means that we must have NOA2. But I'm blindsided and very confused because we received no indication of NOA2 in the mail, on the online tracker, or via email or text notification. Based on the timelines, I feel like NOA2 could have been weeks ago, and now I feel very behind on gathering documents, etc.

How should we proceed now? I am concerned that there was no hardcopy or electronic copy of NOA2 issued. Should I get after USCIS about this? Will my fiance need a hardcopy of NOA2 for the K1 interview? I am also worried that the interview will be scheduled before we're completely ready, document wise.

Noa2 is not required for the interview

However, a copy of NOA2 is required for adjustment of status application down the road

Actually for AOS it can be either the NOA1 or NOA2 .

NOA2 not needed for the visa application process.

contact USCIS to ask they send the i-797 Approval Notice as the other never arrived    (have you moved since filing?)

I just sent off my wife's AOS package today and NOA2 was needed and her alien number (number starting with A followed by 9 digits) was asked for on several forms.

NOA1, receipt or NOA2, approval

From page 10 of the instructions:

B. Form I-797, Approval or Receipt Notice, for the principal applicant’s Form I-485 (if applicable)

As for the "A" number, many times it is listed on the I-797, if not there it will be on the visa.
