In my experience scanning does not work well if you want to retain the proper size.  Download a free photo id app on your phone.  I think the one I used was called ID photo but there are others.  Using the app, snap a perfect 2X2 of your Walgreens photo, and you have your digital version.

Thanks for the tips. I will have to try this one. I already tried a few online apps but if I get the sizing right then the file size messes up. I didn’t find one that can do both so that I can meet the criteria of 600x600 pixels and less than 240 kb.
I am trying to get everything done before I-130A expires (good through 02/28) so I don’t have to redo that one.

For submitting I-130A online, do we print the whole application since I need to sign as a preparer and then scan the whole thing for upload?

Yes.  However, if you use a PDF tool you could just print and sign the signature page.

For some reason, I thought that birth certificates for spouse and I are required for I-130 submission and I had them scanned and ready for upload,  but when I was loading my attachments I didn’t see them on the list of required documents. Is this something that we provide with other civil documents such as police, court or military records at a later phase of process?

Only the petitioners is needed, the Beneficiaries is needed for NVC.

USCIS phase is mostly about the petitioner

NVC phase is mostly about the beneficiary

You can also provide the passport bio page

I assume you are referring to a part about proving citizenship? In that case they require either US passport, birth certificates (if petitioner became US citizen by birth) or certificate of naturalization for those who were not born as US citizen.

Yes.

Also I don't remember if it was required but I've seen a lot of people talk about having the petitioners long form birth certificate at the interview.

Hello everyone. I’ve seen a few different responses regarding the 2x2 photo that we are supposed to submit. I’m live in US and spouse lives overseas. Do we submit photos for both of us? And does the photos have to absolutely have to have names printed on the back?

The official instructions are key, in your case no.

Names on the back probably aren't necessary with the online method, but you can create a blank image of the same size with the name typed.

I did that since it mentions it.

To my knowledge digital photo images in jpg format cannot have a second page attachment with handwriting unless we are using some other type of format that allows this. I just uploaded the original jpg file named first name_last name without attaching a handwritten part since I am not scanning the image but providing the original jpg file.

So the average time right now is 9 months, is that what people are saying?

We're wondering what affects people that are able to get theirs done in only 5.

I’ve been waiting for my REF to be approved for almost 3 months now , and I haven’t heard of anything yet....it’s taking it very slow now
