I filed the I-130 today! Very excited. Where do I see the processing location?

You have to wait like i think 1-2 weeks or so, when you log in click on documents, it should be under the document section of the uscis

Did anyone upload documents after submitting the application ? I got one more document that could be added to the proofs of marriage already uploaded.

I'm wondering if this is ok, or if I should avoid this. We already had joint checking and savings statements for our application, I wanted to add our credit as well!

I have not yet but I am going to once I learn how to download Whatsapp phone call logs. What I read is that if we submit additional information, USCIS is not required to review it in making their decision. So, we can definitely add stuff but they aren't obligated to consider it in their final decision. For future filers, I would make sure I have ALL essential proof downloaded before submission. I don't think a statement or my call logs (I already submitted my international calling plan log) will make a huge difference but if for some reason we get an RFE, we can point to that information.

I just applied for my husband's visa on friday and also got Nebraska. Is it 12-16 months just to get the NOA2? any ideas on how to speed up the process?

Yes Nebraska recently has been taking around 12 months for approval, but they have been transferring many many cases from 2019 out of Nebraska to other service centers, so the time could drastically decrease in upcoming months, we will just have to see. Unfortunately there is no way to speed up the process anymore it seems, as the I129f K3 “trick” those at Nebraska were using mid last year no longer seems to work the past few months. But maybe with these transfers, Nebraska’s processing times will go down

Our CR1 Journey:

USCIS Stage:

  • Feb 14 2019: NOA1 (NSC)
  • July 31 2019: I129f NOA1
  • Sep 19 2019: I129f NOA2 (Denied - 50 days from NOA1)
  • Sep 19 2019: I130 NOA2 (Approved - 217 days from NOA1)

NVC Stage:

  • Sep 27 2019: Sent to Department of State
  • Oct 31 2019: Case number received (34 days since sent)
  • Nov 1 2019: IV & AOS fees received & paid
  • Nov 14 2019: IV & AOS submitted
  • Dec 18 2019: All docs accepted, but one additional doc requested (5 weeks from submission)
  • Dec 18 2019: Requested doc submitted
  • Feb 19 2020: Documentarily Qualified (9 weeks from 2nd submission, 14 weeks from first submission)

Interview Stage:

  • Mar 11 2020: Interview letter received
  • Apr 1 2020: Interview date
  • Mar 17 2020: Interview cancelled due to COVID-19
  • August 3 2020: Rescheduled letter received, new appointment August 25 2020
  • August 25 2020: Visa approved at interview! (558 days from NOA1)
  • September 10 2020: Embassy received passport in mail
  • September 15 2020: Passport with visa in hand

Just out of curiosity: anyone who filled the i-130 online also submitted the i-485 (AOS) by mail too? I got conflicting information and thought that I would need to wait for the i-130 to be approved before filling for the i-485 (which would make the whole thing to take almost 18 months!). My case is a CR-1 visa.

No, you don’t need to wait for the I130 to be approved. It’s actually better to send the I485 (as well as I131 and I765 for AP and EAD) ASAP with the I130, as your NOA1 for your I485 is your proof of legal status in the US until you actually get legal residency so that you do not get deported

Thanks @LilyJ. My husband is already on a work visa so he's safe. I was just wondering if filing the i-485 would speed things up. I read people saying that they got their I-485 denied because they still had a pending I-130. That's why I'm confused...

Is that why you don't file the I-485 if you are doing consular processing then? Because it was my understanding that if you are doing consular processing, you only file the I-130 (and I-130A) and wait until you get your NOA2 before doing anything else. Or am I mixed up? (We're obviously doing consular processing.)

We did - we didn't sign the I-130 because it was an electronic form, but after reading about how people received an early RFE requesting a signed form, I had my husband sign a physical copy of the one we downloaded after filing, scanned it, and uploaded that along with more photos and screenshots of social media stuff. They don't have to consider it, but if they send an RFE asking for these things, we can always indicate that we've sent them in.
