Am I the only one getting a large annoying ad at the top of every page?   And occasionally when clicking on a thread, a full-screen ad pops up and won't close (quickly) when I click the X.

I came across something very strange on a timeline I was looking at. I thought OP comments was posting links to pictures, which showed documentation and ID's but it directed me to Ebay to buy fake/stolen ID's, checks for money and such.

I went back and the page refreshed itself - I think - and it's no longer there. It's a very weird experiment. Haven't even searched for said subjects.

My Husband got his GC! 2 Year Conditional Green Card expires 08/19/2022, Residence since 08/19/2020

Approved without interview as of Feb 15th, 2024. Was not a combo interview with N-400.

Biometrics waived. Got NOA mail Jan 5, 2024 says Interview in Nashville, TN on Feb 6, 2024.
Queue for review and approval. Already in line for Oath Ceremony as of Feb 13th, 2024.
NOA as of 4/29/24 - Oath Ceremony scheduled for May 30th in Chattanooga, TN. Rescheduled as of May 2nd, 2024 by USCIS - new date is May 29th.
May 29th - Naturalized! Ta-da!

So the website this links to actually has a lot of cute, modest clothes, but this was the ad (which I have edited to make it VJ friendly):

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

I do use AdBlocker+, but I leave it off on VJ even though the ads are super annoying because the site needs to pay for itself somehow! Mostly I don't mind the ads (currently this page is showing me a relatively new Lexus for sale) but I always wonder how so many dating ads get on here. I'm laughing because I was complaining about it back a few years ago when some ads for Ashley Madison showed up on here, and I was like: huh? :lol:

Before I got a blocker, there were some sites that I quit visiting altogether because of the overwhelming annoyance.  Sites can support themselves as the owners choose, but it's at the risk of alienating visitors.

Either the purchasers are deluded, or automated-placement programs erroneously associate family-based visas with dating, or something...
