Hey there I've recently arrived in the USA and my fiancee and I are planning to get married on the 10th of December and then file for AOS along with AP and EAD. I was just wondering if anyone has any good ideas to pass the time waiting around. It's beginning to snow here in Wisconsin so cycling or walking is becoming out of the question which sucks as I loved that in the summer. We currently don't have a 2nd car so whilst my fiancee is at work I'm stuck in the house. I just was wondering if people had any suggestions?

Currently Im keeping myself busy playing games on my new pc I built and watching tv and films but as you all know that gets a bit old quickly... any help would be great, thanks guys! 😊

oh just started snowing here too(Chicago). go shovel the snow and make snowman!!🤣 j/k but you can use uber/lyft if you really wanna go to the mall, do some Christmas shopping.

Plan your wedding, get your AOS paperwork ready to file so when you do get married, it's pretty much ready! if you haven't gotten your SSN this is a good time to do it now before you get married.

At home: make dinner, put up your Christmas tree, rearrange your furniture, clean out your closet, read a book, complete a jigsaw puzzle(My fav)

We found a few other people that live nearby in the same/similar situation and common heritage, so maybe a few times a month they will get together and go shopping, take a baking class, try a new restaurant, or other adventure to get out and socialize.

Sometimes we are able to travel together for business trips or commingle a modest sightseeing adventure.  Those have been quite fun and have added quite a bit to our photo album.

After you get married it's not a bad idea to go see the docs and start building your medical files here in the USA.... not exactly exciting but the medical systems in the USA are probably different from what you are accustomed to.

Take classes online or self-paced learning is also something to keep your mind going strong and maybe pick up new skills for personal/professional development.

Right now we are cresting 6 months of waiting for EAD.

Start putting your resume together with ideas, so you will have something to draw from once the time comes for the final draft.

My wife wanted me to build a shed, too. I'd can use help to renovate a bathroom or two

That might be considered unauthorized work. He can work on his own house.....

When I first arrived and was looking for a job (Diversity Lottery recipient) I explored some of my creative ideas that I'd had for a long time.  Turned one of those ideas into a podcast and - three years on - that podcast is very close to becoming my full-time gig.

This is a great time to explore your wildest dreams - you got nothing to lose.

I concur, been here a few months bored stiffless haha. But it's a great opportunity to look into and research something you always wanted to do- even if it's just a hobby! I'm doing this now looking at voice over so learning to edit etc.You sound into tech/gaming so it's a good opportunity for you to build a following surrounding your gaming? I also volunteer at a cat shelter once a week and we have joined a wine club for a monthly social that doesn't blow the budget with only one person working haha- another fun cheap date night thing to do I've found is look around for weekly free/cheap line dancing classes at a local bar, sounds weird but lots of places have them for maybe $5 pp and it's just a bit of a laugh dancing with your partner and have a beer in the week- and if you stay after there are some fantastic dancers who come to dance for fun!! I've found it's good idea to get into a routine also otherwise you can get into some funks haha. Simple ones like at 1pm I do a mini work out, on Mondays I deep clean the house. Another one is I got a kitten and have been teaching him tricks- this takes up a lot of time and is fun!! He can sit and high five! That's if you're into animals haha. A lot of word vomit there sorry- Let us know how you get on, and have a wonderful wedding! :) x

Maaaan..I will kill for playing video game all day! I miss playing my pc and nintendo switch without the pressure of going to work.lol

Anyway,

When I have not have EAD or greencard ready on hand I went to:

1. Library

2. Try to cook something new

3. Join any interested community. Back then I attend a lot of classes at JoAnn to do knitting

4. Join gym if you like to exercise. Planet fitness has a "good deal" right now. $10/month with $10 down. There was time when the down payment only 25 cents but hey, you just looking for something to do so $10 will not kill you 😆

5. Going to any farm market or world market. Window shopping also help.

6. Try to do some art (painting, stained glass art, pottery?)

And the list goes on...
