I don't care about her. All she has now is money and looks. She has no talent what so ever, she has tried everything, sing, act, model, she's no good for anything. 40 years from now she'll be one of those old ladies divorced 8 times with her skin so pulled up she'll look like the Joker (Batman).

I don't feel sorry for her. I'd rather see her azz in jail than read that she killed some innocent person(s) with her actions. I think that this was the dose of reality that she needed. She needed to be taught a harsh lesson that breaking the law comes with consequences for ALL perpetrators not just the common folk (who knew?). I hope she really learns a lesson about owning up to her actions and not hiding behind mommy and daddy's leg. I hope this nips her illegal activity in the bud. Maybe she'll come out reformed  . Either way I bet she'll think twice about drinking and driving again.

Well said

Nessa, I agree with what you said - besides that she has looks. I think she is VERY unattractive. My friend saw her at a club in Miami and said she's SUPER skinny and needs to go home and eat a hamburger [to gain weight]. If the TV puts 10 lbs. on her then imagine...

so if people are saying she is being treated too harshly, what would be the usual punishment for what she did??

The usual policy is for inmates to get time off the end of their sentence for good behavior. Basically you get it unless you get into a fight, or use drugs in the jail, mouth off at the guards, that sort of thing. That's why they originally predicted she'd do 23 instead of the 45 she was sentenced to (how much time you get depends on the corrections system--in the federal system it's 50 days off per year, in New Jersey I believe it's 15%, which is about the same). So for her to do the full 45 is already treating her more harshly than the average Joe next to her who got the same 45-day sentence.

Then again, the LA County jails are overcrowded, and they need places to put offenders who are actually violent, so people who get sentenced for DWI nearly always get let out of jail and put on house arrest after somewhere between 2 and 10 days.

Now, I'm not saying that it's right or fair for people to get so little, but actually what happened here is that she got the *same* treatment that most people in her situation get (let out of jail after 5 days on house arrest), and then the judge hauled her back in and mandated a treatment that's *more* harsh than most people would get, partly to make an example of her and partly as part of a power struggle with the sheriff.

ok, but I don't think putting Paris on house arrest would be all that bad for her.... maybe that is part of the reason the judge wanted her to serve jail time so she could learn a lesson....

First of all, she did serve some jail time before being let out. As much as most people serve.

Second of all, it doesn't matter how nice your house is or isn't, unless it's really awful; it's the "being confined" that's the problem. House arrest sucks. I love my house, but I can't stand to be in it more than a day or two without desperately needing to get outside, even just for groceries. I believe there was a fable ("The Nightingale") that said, "A gilded cage is still a cage." (Possibly not helping my case, but I believe she was also restricted to *part* of the house, since the house was bigger than the 3000-foot range of her monitor.)

Third, she's also treated *more* harshly in the jail than most people are. She's locked up in solitary confinement, which is something normally done to the worst criminals who are likely to beat up people if they're let out, or else to sex offenders so they don't get killed. Solitary is called "the hole" or "the punishment cells" for a reason. Because solitary confinement is terrible. It makes you go crazy. It's only barely this side of cruel and unusual punishment and there have to be major security concerns to justify putting someone there. A variation on it is a well-known torture technique.
