That beeeeotch should have hired a driver in the first place (once her license was suspended).

I'm glad she is in jail - where she should be. House arrest is not a punishment when your last name is Hilton.

Ok, let me be the first to say right out...yeah, I do feel bad for her. NOW.

Let me explain....I would have been the first to say AHHHHHHHHH AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH when I found out she had to go to jail...and I did do that. When I found out she had to go BACK after being released I was all...aaaaaaaaahhh hahahahahah AGAIN. That said, after having it on in the backround half the day today (cleaning, and bored and didn't want to get into a regular show...anyway...) I have changed my mind a bit. Not because she was bawling and blah blah...but for a few reasons....

1/ she shouldn't have to be the big pawn in the battle between the judge and the sheriff. They're gettin all p**sy with each other, and she's caught in the middle of it. I was really annoyed when she showed up late for court (before she ever went to jail) thinking "who does she think she IS?" but today it wasn't even her fault..the sheriff refused to go get her until he finally backed down from his standoff with the judge.

2/she's put in/released/put in.... Imean come on...that's not really a fair way to treat anyone. Make up her mind already you know???

and lastly 3/ she's a celebrity yeah...and a TOTAL spoiled brat rich kid....but she's a person too. Who knows, but a lot of her acting out is probably because it's what's made her popular, and it keeps her popular. NOT that I'm condoning it in any way...I hate how she acts/Nicole Ritchie/Linsey Lohan, etc etc....but it has to get sooooo old having every one of your movements tracked...and then something like this that is stressful for you and you have media chasing you down the street, in the courthouse, it's all over the news and you know that. It has to add a lot more stress. And yeah...I know it comes with the territory and all that but still...sheesh.

I am soooooooooooooooooooo NOT condoning drinking and driving...wrong, wrong WRONGGGGG and I would *never* do it..never have, never will. That said, I think she should get the same exact type of sentence that every other person gets for this offense...and from everything on the news, she got quite a few more days than most anyone else gets. She should certainly be taken to task for ignoring the judge the first time though, when she had a chance NOT to go to jail, so maybe she does deserve this.

So yeah...I'm so not a big Paris fan,but I actually do feel a lil' sorry for her at this point. I know a lot of people will disagree with me...I probably would have yesterday too! :P M.

I agree with a lot of the things you said. I voted YES, also. I asked myself what constitutes feeling sorry for someone. And, basically, it's when I say to myself "Poor thing", "awwww", or something similar. It doesn't mean that she shouldn't have consequences for her actions. It just means that I feel bad for her because it's (jail) a hard situation for anyone. She's not perfect. Everyone makes mistakes. No matter how rich, famous, blonde, etc. someone is, they have faults. And, I think that it's easy to pick on celebrities and get excited when they screw up. Sometimes it's out of envy, and sometimes it's just because we are glad to see that they are just like us. By that same token, we should try to empathize with them, too. Because they are just like us.

I do. I feel sorry for any defendant who's set up as an "example" and used as a pawn in a power struggle. I don't feel more sorry for her than I do for anyone else, but I'd feel sorry for anyone who was treated more harshly than other similarly situated defendants would be for the same conduct. Most DWI offenders who break probation get out in a few days, or at the very least get good time credits. Last I heard, they're making her do the full 45. What has she done that makes her worse than all of the other millions of people in this country who drive drunk? Except be young and rich and pretty and most importantly, famous? She shouldn't be treated more leniently than other drunk drivers, but she shouldn't be treated more harshly either.

I actually feel sorry for her in general, but that's a different thread.

I don't feel sorry for her. I'd rather see her azz in jail than read that she killed some innocent person(s) with her actions. I think that this was the dose of reality that she needed. She needed to be taught a harsh lesson that breaking the law comes with consequences for ALL perpetrators not just the common folk (who knew?). I hope she really learns a lesson about owning up to her actions and not hiding behind mommy and daddy's leg. I hope this nips her illegal activity in the bud. Maybe she'll come out reformed . Either way I bet she'll think twice about drinking and driving again.

I was in between voting no and I don't care. I chose no. I don't feel sorry for her. She deserves what she gets, just like any other person in society that breaks the law.

Do I feel sorry for her? No, not really. She's going to jail for 45 freaking days. She and her family acted like she was being led away to face a firing squad. Show some dignity!

I do..

They put the girl in jail they should have left her there. They let her go home and now has to go back. I would be pissed if that were me. The Sheriff opened the door and let her go home, not Paris.

so if people are saying she is being treated too harshly, what would be the usual punishment for what she did??

On Sept. 7, 2006 police arrested celebrity socialite Paris Hilton in Hollywood on suspicion of driving under the influence after she was spotted "driving erratically" while out to pick up a late-night burger.

Hilton was charged Sept. 26 with misdemeanor driving under the influence and on Jan. 9, 2007, her lawyers entered not guilty pleas on her behalf to a single count each of driving under the influence and driving with a blood-alcohol level of .08 or above.

Less than a week later, Hilton was pulled over again, this time by the California Highway Patrol. She was informed that her license was suspended in connection with the September DUI charge and she'd signed a document acknowledging she was not supposed to drive.

Hilton pleaded no contest Jan. 22 to a reduced charge of alcohol-related reckless driving. The pleas earned her three years of probation and a $1,500 fine. Hilton also was required by the courts to enroll in an alcohol education program.

A month later, Feb. 27, Hilton â۠still with a suspended license â۠was stopped by Los Angeles sheriff's deputies for driving "a new Bentley" at 70 mph in a 35 mph zone "in darkness without her headlights on." In her glove compartment was the document she'd signed Jan. 15, acknowledging she was not allowed to drive while her license was suspended.

ok, I just found this....

DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE (Section 32152(a) & (B) Vehicle Code)

If you are over 21 and have a blood alcohol level (BAC) of 0.08 or higher you will be arrested for driving under the influence (DUI).

* Immediate 30 day suspension of drivers license on the spot by arresting officer.

* Jail time ( night of arrest + 48 additional consecutive hours; 3 days in jail with BAC of 1.5; 4 days in jail with BAC of 2.0 or greater)

* Car immediately towed and stored at your expense.

* Upon conviction, loss of license for one year, court probation for three years and part of your driving for seven years. Breaking probation will result in ten days in jail.

* $1300 fine plus booking fee of $129, court costs and attorney fees. Up to triple increase in car insurance.

* Mandatory attendance of a alcohol information school; 14 weeks at the cost of approximately $300.

* Courts are now required to impose an additional 60 day continuous jail term if convicted of driving under the influence if person was also driving recklessly, or exceeded the speed limit by 30 mph.

if this info is correct, it seems to me that she got off easy, she could have gotten 60 days...

Don't feel sorry for her.

If she was anyone else no judge would have thought twice about putting her in jail.

She needs to grow up and deal with the consequences of her actions. Too many people take drinking and driving too lightly and the fact that she did it TWICE and drove under a suspended license AND violated her probation....give me a freaking break.

i don't feel sorry for her. i do, however, loathe the media for focusing so much on this pathetic party girl. why is paris hilton more important than other important topics happening around the world? oh yeah....ratings.

i agree 1000000000% that she should have hired a driver to take her around after her license was suspended. UHH HELLO, the girl is worth $30,000,000. she can afford a driver for a few months!

i'm originally from the LA area and let me tell you... we either take taxis if we all wanted to drink OR someone was a designated driver. end of story. and if i got caught, i'd be in jail too. why should she get any special treatment?

what makes me even more sick is that she's probably going to get even RICHER off of this. a book, a new tv series perhaps? *BARF!
