You could if you can prove that you had no intention of getting married when you entered the US.

People have adjusted status while on tourist visas but that does not necessarily mean it would work for you since there is a possibility that you could be banned if you try to adjust status if you had immigrant intent when you entered on a tourist visa.

I came to new york from France on a tourist visa and me and my husband got married while I was here legally on the tourist visa. My tourist visa ends in 2 months. Can i apply for an adjustment of status so I can stay with him and get a green card so I can work as well?

You haven't provided enough information. If you entered the USA with the intention of marrying AND staying to adjust status, your attempt to do so could result in deportation and a 10 year ban from entering the USA. If your husband was your fiance before you entered the US, you are likely to have a problem. If you met him while you were visiting, not likely a problem. There is some wiggle room between those extremes but you would want to discuss the details with a qualified immigration attorney before deciding on a course of action.

WE met 4 yrs ago when I came to visit he asked me to marry him and we were married at city hall in new york city. I called INS and asked they said it would be ok as long as I came to the country legally and I was still here legally. She told me all I had to do was fill out some forms and file them. I know she probably will know but I just dont want to get seperated from my husband. We have been apart for almost 9 months. 10 yr would kill me...

Ok, I'm about 90 percent certain your ok but when you file petitions and explain things to the government, you are going to have to be more specific. If the order of events is that you arrived in the US on a visitor visa, he asked you to marry him and then you got married, yes you can simply follow the AOS path using this guide. http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...page=i130guide2

The cautions are fully explained there. Congratulations and good luck.
