Add Joint Sponsor vs. Add Household Member

Hello everyone

My income apparently does not meet the requirements, so I am using my mother as a joint sponsor (also using my dad's income to supplement hers).

My mother filled out an I-864 and my father an I-864A.

When in CEAC, I added my mother as a "joint sponsor." Do I add my father as a "household member" or also as a "joint sponsor"?

Thank you

Hi we’re currently submitting documents to CEAC, may I know if you added Them as household member or joint sponsor? Do they have the same address as the main sponsor? I have my sister in law as the joint sponsor but she and my husband don’t live in the same address. I’m confused whether to list her as joint sponsor or household member as in the i864 their income is combined.

Hello silviafini

I added one of them as a joint sponsor and the other as a household member. It was accepted.

No, my parents share an address that is different than mine.

Right, if they didn't live with you and sponsoring without adding their income to yours, then mom would be a joint sponsor yeah. As for your father that is a tricky question, I am not too sure.  I don't believe it would be house hold member since that directly means "your household member" on the site and not hers. However, I know when you put her tax returns up, since your parents are married, her tax return would be "joint tax return" which shows both their incomes.   Yeah, research a lot more before acting on that so you dont have to wait so long again to reupload any mistakes. If I see anything, I will repost here of course. This is just my opinion for the record :D.
