I’m a bit confused and wonder if any one has been in this position.

I moved to the US in April on a K1 visa, we got married and filed of AOS less than 3 weeks later. Prior to moving, as with anyone on the K1 visa I completed a medical on March 3rd.
Even though immigration have a hard copy of the results, we still sent a copy of it with our AOS application. Fast fast forward to last month, we had our interview on October 29th, we brought every item listed on the appointment letter including the medical results- we weren’t asked to produce it. We have just received an RFE which states I need to get another medical, we are so confused as my original medical is still in date, we have produced both an original copy and a copy. Is this normal? As it’s the weekend we can’t talk to anyone at USCIS. We are totally at a loss and feeling every disheartening right now.

The only copy that they will accept to approve your I485 is the original that was collected at CBP in your K1 sealed packet when you entered the US regardless if you submitted a copy of your overseas medical with your I485 or a copy at the AOS interview.

If they lost that copy, which can happen, youll have to redo your medical.

Your IO may not have been smart enough to check your A-file where that was stored though so it would be advised to call USCIS and remind them that it should be there so someone will actually look for it.

If it's lost though, it's lost. You'll just have to comply and redo it.

Also, your DS3025 Vaccination Record may not have been completed properly or the IO may not have known how to read it. That's another issue too.

If you post that here though we can confirm it was complete or not.

Worst case scenario, you do another medical here. No problem, just another $500-$600...

We feel it was probably lost to be honest. We have a copy of our AOS packet. We also have a copy of my original medical that was conducted in Ireland. I’m hoping that will be accepted instead of having to pay for another one 🙄

It will only be POSSIBLY acceptable if it's sealed.

Is it?

IOs dont always do their job. I still suggest you insist they do and find out if anyone actually looked in your A-file.

I also suggest you figure out if your DS3025 was actually complete so at least you know.

Unless you are only posting here to vent rather than finding solutions.

We hope, that would be the best case. If you have insurance, you can try to claim it. When I did mine, I got 80-90% back

I don’t know how it works in other countries, in Ireland they give you the sealed copy to give to the embassy and you an unsealed copy. I’m not a doctor but based on the copy I have, it seems to all be completed. They said it was fine at my initial interview in the embassy in Dublin, so who knows.
The I693 states that once you apply for I485 working a year of your overseas medical you don’t need another, it’s all very confusing.

its beyond frustrating that we actually had the medical results with us at the interview, told the officer several times we had everything the appointment letter stated and she told she didnt need all of it because she had everything.
Honestly a bit of both, everyone here understands our complete frustration right now, and we wanted to see if this has happened to anyone else-did they need to get a new medical or was the original medical accepted.

Where you past the 12 months of your original medical?
our next port of call is to see if any of the doctors will accept our insurance should we need to get it re-done

I have a question for you:

In the case that the DS 3025 form states the applicant opted not to have vaccionations, what should I do ?

Thanks

1. DID you complete the vaccines at your overseas medical exam and they marked them as complete BUT just marked that box?

OR

2. Did you not complete the vaccines (either some but not all or not at all) which is why they marked that box?

Hi

I have an international vaccination certificate stating I have all the vaccines they required.

The doctor told me I didn't need vaccinations and that the only one I needed was the flu shot.

But he wrote in the DS 3025 that K1 applicant opted not to have them.

Then you need the vaccination part of the I693 completed

YMMV

Your international vaccination certficate is irrelevant if it was not transcribed to your DS3025 properly.

If you post a photo of your DS3025 i can help as your explanation is quite vague as to what boxes were checked on it.

That was our experience also. My the time she went to the civil surgeon, I had enrolled her in my company's health insurance plan. It certainly softened the sting of the cost of the exam, especially at a time when it seems everybody and their brother wants to get into your wallet.
