NBI and AKA regarding nicknames

Hello,

Our interview is next week for K1 visa at USEM. I think we are all set except for one thing that is nagging at me. I am trying to avoid a 221G at all costs..

My Fiance's given name is John Julie, but she uses JJ on social media.

On my original I-129F application I listed JJ as an "other name used" because it mentions nicknames there too.

On the DS-160 we did not list any other names used. "NO" on that answer.

My question is could the consulate require an NBI with an AKA for this? We did not have any AKA on this NBI report, just her regular name.

All of her ID's and other documents only have her regular given name, this is purely a nickname on social media and with friends.

Thanks

My wife did not get an AKA with the NBI for her nickname that is used with friends and family and yes on social media, she had zero issues at the interview.   For other names used .. single the got married, officially changed name on BC ... etc.

The way I look at nicknames is these are nicknames too  -  Honey, Sweetie, Bebeko, Laplap  .. and I would never get an NBI for those either.  ;)

If it names you edgy then get an NBI AKA for J.J.

Thanks again

After talking to her, I'm not sure we have time now for the NBI since she leaves for Manila on Wednesday, but hoping for the best! The last one took a week to complete.

I will follow up and let you all know if it goes well, we may be over thinking things

Isn't necessary .. really

Why did it take a week? Does she have a common name. My fiance got hers within an hour

I think her name generates a  "hit"   And takes longer to check

Yes a "hit" adds a week easy.  My wife had a hit with her name .. extra week before she could pickup the NBI

Just to share my experience. Got hit also from NBI, Davao  &  they said I need to come back in 10days for my NBI  clearance.
I went to NBI Manila, got my NBI clearance in less than an hour then went to do my medical in the afternoon of the second day. Got the result of my medical & flied back to Davao😀
