So I noticed in another thread people were talking about some sort of SS card with restrictions? I have my NOA 12 month extention letter and have been for my biometrics appointment - now I'm just waiting. Problem is I'm about (I hope) to get a new job and this SS number thing has me worried. I've looked at my SS card and it has no mention of any restrictions. Why would there be restrictions? Who gets those type of cards? I really want this new job and don't want anything to mess up my chances. Do all conditional residents have restricted SS cards? I've tried Googling but I'm still confused :(

Thanks :)

There can be various types of restrictions placed on SS cards. My wife's card is stamped "Authorized to work with INS approval". She came on a k3 so needed to adjust status. Once status is adjusted and the beneficiary is a green card holder, the restriction can be removed by going to a local SS office and submitting the required documents. Other SS cards may have a restriction which limits the SS# to be used for financial institutions and not employment.

Thanks. My card doesn't seem to have any kind of stamp or notice of restrictions on it. I assume there won't be a problem.
