Three Kmarts in the FL Keys safe again ('cause it's the only big chain store we have and all the aging hippies still shop there).

Anywhere but Portland.

Sadly, Austin now has a major homeless problem.  Governor trying to intervene before it becomes California-ish.

Son can have best of both worlds by moving to McAllen, TX (site of last Texas KMart).

My son was in San Antonio for National Guard training and liked that area.  A few years ago we spent a week in that area with a car club activity.  Our event and hotel was based in Kerrville, which I kind of liked.  Visited the surrounding areas and did a lot of driving and site seeing.  Fredericksburg, Luckenbach, Johnson City, New Braunfels.  San Antonio is just a little to busy for me.

 

My son is not a liberal and Portland is NOT a good fit for him.

It's so weird to think about it, but you're right. I was looking at my Amazon account the other day and I could track transactions back to the very first one I made when I was 18, which was quite a while ago. I bought my dad a DVD of The Big Lebowski, apparently! One day Amazon will be something that is as outdated a model as Sears.

I sometimes think that all the dots have not been joined up, there are all sorts of Societal changes that seem to be happening faster and faster and they tend to be treated individually, this is not in a vacuum There was a bit in the Graun about the impact of home delivery from an ecological point of view, 1/3rd of the waste is packaging? Now there are positives and negatives but quite how all this fits in well. I can very vaguely remember pre Supermarket times, well there were probably around but my Mum mainly shopped in individual shops, Baker, Butcher etc. Or from the Market. 

 

Guilty as most, I remember thinking about needing to get something and thought next time I go to Denver and of course drove around could not find what I wanted so I tend to just order on line now, a cycle as less and less gets stocked. So where does this take us, dollar stores and tourist shops in smaller locales.
