They were estatic, but that was because it meant that we were returning to the US and they missed the both of us after about three years.

My husband's family were surprised that he didn't leave for the US earlier, but they always figured he would.

There is always the possiblity of returning to Germany or some other EU country though. The US is just another step on the road to who knows where.

My family's concerns were of a practical nature. What kind of job will he be able to get here? How will he do coming here with almost no knowledge of English? How do you know that he will even like it here?

So far so good... :)

Mine were very supportive. They said they trusted that I knew what I was doing (HA) and helped in every way they could. They worried Rey would not be happy in the US, but as Jenn said, so far so good.

My family is cool with it other than the concerns about him using me for a visa. My brother also made some threats for me to tell Marlon, of course I had to tone them down before I told him! All of my friends have been very supportive and are looking forward to meeting him. They keep asking me when he will be here and when is wedding date!

My parents were so upset they each typed a letter to me to tell me to forget about her but mailed them together (to save postage). Once the generalizations and presumptions were shattered with patience and time, they came to accept her. Now she calls them Mom and Dad ...and it makes me a little jealous (they were my parents first). :P

A lot more complicated than the simple poll (so I put the "aggregate average" of neutral).

My parents did try to "persuade" me in 1998 (when I was on a TN-1, and in "hurry-up-and-wait" state of GC process due to misfiling of my case by a chopfrack lawyer) to consider marrying an American citizen (rejected, due to the source of this "advice" and other subtle pressures that would stem from it).

When I could finally file the petition (2005), my dad was all for it (my mum had passed away in 2001).

2005/07/10 I-129F filed for Pras

2005/11/07 I-129F approved, forwarded to NVC--to Chennai Consulate 2005/11/14

2005/12/02 Packet-3 received from Chennai

2005/12/21 Visa Interview Date

2006/04/04 Pras' entry into US at DTW

2006/04/15 Church Wedding at Novi (Detroit suburb), MI

2006/05/01 AOS Packet (I-485/I-131/I-765) filed at Chicago

2006/08/23 AP and EAD approved. Two down, 1.5 to go

2006/10/13 Pras' I-485 interview--APPROVED!

2006/10/27 Pras' conditional GC arrives -- .5 to go (2 yrs to Conditions Removal)

2008/07/21 I-751 (conditions removal) filed

2008/08/22 I-751 biometrics completed

2009/06/18 I-751 approved

2009/07/03 10-year GC received; last 0.5 done!

2009/07/23 Pras files N-400

2009/11/16 My 46TH birthday, Pras N-400 approved

2010/03/18 Pras' swear-in
