Just received the 1st email from NVC after petition approved. Should I hire an immigrant attorney to handle the documents for me? How difficult is it to handle this by myself & what to do if the email mentioned the city of consulate interview is incorrect? Thank you in advance!

Documents are not hard. Its the usual birth/death/marriage certificates + i-864 + W2 + 1040/IRS Tax Transcript + Pay Stub + others.

I am not sure if you can/how to change interview location, but why don't you contact NVC and find out.

Documents are not too hard, you can handle that yourself. It can get complicated if you have travelled a lot and need police certificates from several countries, but even with a lawyer you'll still need to get all those documents by yourself.

The affidavit of support is not too hard either, especially if your sponsor has a straightforward work history, earns enough and has filed taxes in the past few years.

You should call them about the consulate interview location if they made a mistake. If you need to change it (because you moved countries for instance), you'll need to send them an inquiry:

https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/visa-information-resources/ask-nvc.html?wcmmode=disabled

They'll need your current address, which consulate you want to have your interview at, and proof you're eligible to have your interview at that consulate (nationality, birth or residence in the area covered by that consulate).

Definitely do the NVC stage yourself if your case is standard and not complicated.  Just make sure you follow the NVC website guidelines very carefully as far as scanning and uploading documents and files, correct orientation of the documents, high-quality scans in color, include everything they ask for, follow the directions, make sure all edges of civil documents are clearly visible, etc.  Attorneys often just slow down the process and make mistakes that can be very frustrating.  Save the money and do it yourself.  Good luck!
