Does the copy have to be certified by the government or something or can my fiancé just copy it with his own printer and put it in the envelope?

Is your fiancé the beneficiary?

If so, here is what I was able to find:

https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/Visa-Reciprocity-and-Civil-Documents-by-Country/Germany.html

Scroll down to the Birth, Death, Burial Certificates section.

As far as I know, the birth certificate described on there is what is required.

Some consulates will accept documents in the local language.  But if its going to USCIS in the USA it needs to be translated in English.

Anyone can do it, they just have to sign the translator certification paper/include the notice with the document.

The I-129F instructions state that copies are acceptable, but originals should be available if requested.

I've only sent in scans of my birth and divorce certificates, never had a problem.  That's from both an I-129F and I-130

You can turn in copies of your birth certificate and translation if necessary.  The certificate has to be a original government certificate/copy, but the copy you turn it does not have to be certified; just a regular copy.  The same with any translation, a copy will suffice; keep the original in the case they ask for it.  On Page 2 of the i-192F instructions it states that unless original documents are requested, send copies.  As long as the copy is readable, it shouldn't be an issue if he uses his scanner/printer/copier.  I would make sure to copy both sides of the birth certificate.

you're absolutely right.  I'm just stating that we sent certified copies of the birth certificates.  Gaves us a better piece of mind.

In today's world of identity  theft,  I would never ever ever let an original or certified copy out of my control.

YMMV

Very true.  Unfortunately, our information is already "out there" with today's technology and all.

Ok so my Fiancé is the petitioner and I'm the beneficiary. We need his birth certificate as a proof for his American citizenship. I'm from Germany and I want to marry him in the US.

His birth certificate doesn't need to be certified correct??

And we don't need my birth certificate as far as I know..

Does he have a passport? He can use that. My fiancé submitted a photocopy of his birth certificate as well as the bio-page of his passport.

No, they don't need your birth certificate for the I-129F. It will be needed when you apply for the K-1 Visa at the embassy/consulate.

Yes he has a passport. So is the birth certificate enough or is the passport better? I'm so nervous and confused about all this. I'm scared we won't have enough evidence since we don't have any flight tickets but the eternities as e-mails.. we literally have NO receipt or anything. Only pictures, facebook posts with dates and pictures in them (milestones like anniversaries or trips). One of the trip was a cruise.. I'm gonna have my fiancé take a screenshot of the cruise receipt or whatever shows he booked it in both of our names..

Don't mean to be negative,  but none of the evidence you described (itineraries,  email,  Facebook,  pictures,  etc) are evidence of meeting within the past two years.   What about passport entry stamps?

YMMV

Either one is fine.

I don't think that the flight itineraries are enough. Do you have passport stamps or boarding passes?

How about credit card statements?

Photos are good but they are not the best evidence.
