Administrative processing is a waiting game, be patient until you hear from them about your case.  It could be days, weeks, months, no one can predict how long AP takes.  In the meantime, get proof of health insurance documents, assuming that you have been added to your wife's health insurance plan in the US?  From your interview experience, it sounds like they may ask for that, so be ready to submit it when the time comes.  Good luck!  Hopefully you'll be approved soon.

My husband was able to add me without a ssn. They just requested a copy of our marriage certificate.

You just have to wait, sounds like typical AP to me

Not typical if they gave his passport back. Are you sure they didn't give you another piece of paper explaining things or requesting more documents?

Finally done...

I was able to add my wife without an SSN. It took a little gentle persuasion but I got it done)))

But she was probably in the US?  I doubt it is common to be able to add someone to an employee plan while they are still living overseas.

I was gonna mention this. Also, it's open enrollment for me right now. This is what I was told from my employer's benefit department, "You cannot add her if she is not in the country.  When she arrives in the USA, we will need proof of entry and you can add her to your coverage at that time.  Just let us know then".

No I also added my wife as soon as we married and I returned to the US

Enrollment opens at marriage date.
She didnt arrive in the US until 8 months later, got a SS number 4 months after that.

I was just stating the answer provided by my employer's benefit department. Also, it is open enrollment period for me right now which means I am making selections for the next year right now (I don't expect my wife to be here until mid next year, assuming everything works out).

I am keeping the email sent to me by my benefits department. It seems my employer allows modification to the plan for the case I stated. Of course that doesn't mean I'll be able to satisfy the counselor. Who knows what they'll be looking for.
