Hi guys,

I'm requesting your guidance on something.

I had my N-400 interview on Sep-18 (based on 5 years of employment GC). Officer verbally told me that my case was approved, and that I should wait for oath letter.

But, egov.uscis.gov shows:

"Your Current Status: Case Was Submitted For Quality Review Based On An Approval Recommendation"

"We recommended that your Form N-400, Application for Naturalization, Receipt Number IOE[...], be approved. On September 18, 2019, your case was submitted for quality review. This is a standard process we use to ensure the quality of our decisions. Once our quality review is done you will be scheduled for an oath ceremony."

But under "Case History" I see:

09/18/2019 Your Form N-400, Application for Naturalization, was placed in line for oath ceremony scheduling.

09/18/2019 We recommended that your Form N-400, Application for Naturalization, be approved. Your case was submitted for quality review.

08/09/2019 We scheduled an interview for your Form N-400, Application for Naturalization.

So I am confused over two things:

1. Was I first "placed in line for oath" and then "submitted for quality review"? Or first in quality review and then (after completion of review) in line for oath?

2. Is this quality review a common thing, have you guys seen it also?

It's more confusing because my.uscis.gov (myaccount.uscis.gov) does not mention any "quality review" and says:

"We approved your application
Your final step to becoming a citizen is to attend your naturalization ceremony

We will mail you a letter when we schedule your naturalization ceremony."

Thanks for any feedback. Please share if you've experience something similar.

It is  quite standard.  You will be fine, wait for a few more days.

Hi dilip, thanks for the reply.

How do we know it's common? I mean, can you refer something I can read please? I'd appreciate it.

Thanks.

Policy manual

https://www.uscis.gov/policy-manual/volume-12-part-b-chapter-4

If an officer approves a naturalization application, the application goes through the appropriate internal procedures before the USCIS office schedules the applicant to appear at a ceremony for the administration of the Oath of Allegiance. The internal procedures include a “re-verification” procedure where all approved applications are reviewed for quality. The officer who conducts the re-verification is not the same officer who conducts the interview.

SusieQQQ, this was very helpful.

I was assuming that this "quality review" was uncommon (because I saw very few mentions of it), but it sounds like it's done in all cases. Is that how you understand it as well?

Can you tell from my statuses if the quality review is already complete or not?

To me it's confusing because case history says "placed in line for oath ceremony scheduling", but current status is "Submitted For Quality Review."

Do we know how long quality reviews take generally?

Thanks again for being helpful.

Some other people here got Qual Review (and me from last year) and I thought the same thing as you did like ... which came first?

Anyway, I just came to the conclusion that I should just concentrate on notifications from the myUSCIS account. The impt thing is you got the 'We approved...' message so just wait for your oath notification. That Qual Review notification on egov won't change until you get the oath letter. I was also waiting for that Qual Review to change but when it didn't change 30 days after interview, I called them up and ask if my file was still ok. They said no flags and to just wait for the oath letter. I got the oath notification 46 days after interview.

So don't worry about the Qual Review. You've been approved! You should worry if you only got 'You attended your interview.' Hope you get the Oath letter soon. Congrats!!!!

I agree, you are in the line for oath ceremony.  So check your local office's oath ceremony schedule, also look for the oath notice.  You are all set, just a few more days waiting time to be over with your immigration journey.
