Travel within US with EAD extension?

Hi there,

I am about to travel by plane within the us. I booked the ticket with my new last name and was planning on using my drivers license as proof of identity. However, I had to learn that my temporary drivers license is not an acceptable document for TSA. It is temporary because I am still in the process of obtaining my GC. I have my EAD card that expires in a few days. I already got the receipt notice from USCIS for automatic extension (180 days). Will I be able to travel within the US/go through TSA on my EAD card along with the receipt notice? I do have a german passport but with my maiden name. I don't think I can use this. I am flying Southwest and they don't change names on the ticket 😕

I was able to get Southwest to change the names on my wife's tickets at the ticket counter in June, FWIW. They wouldn't let her through TSA with her passport + marriage certificate, but the ticket counter was able to get her new boarding passes as Anastasiia [Maiden Name]. I had booked them as Anastasiia [my last name], and was told on the phone when I had to call them about scheduling changes that we'd be fine.

But I don't know if that always works.
