07 Nov 2019 - Priority Date:

17 July 2020 - I-130 Approved

15 Sept 2020 - Submitted documents to NVC:

01 Oct 2020 - NVC Request for spouse divorce papers (submitted same day).  All other documents accepted.

Lessons learned so far:

1) Fedex lost my foreign report and I had to reapply all over for the report.  Delayed me 6 weeks.   Estimating to apply early for a foreign police report before your I-130 is approved may be tough but worth it.

2) Send in any divorce papers for ex-spouse or death certificate for spouse with the DS-260 and I-864.  I just assumed I needed to bring this to the interview.  I should have know better.  Will update on this delay once I hear back from NVC

Hi. Has anyone here successfully expedited their case at the NVC stage?

My expedite request has been approved.

Hi, just wondering anyone waiting for an interview in Kuala Lumpur Embassy?

What are the requirements for expedition at the NVC stage? I was under assumption that it's like a life and death situation. I'm at the point to try anything to see my wife sooner.

Thank you for your reply. Do you know approximately how long it takes for the case to be sent to the Embassy once the expedite request is approved? I was approved too, but my status is still showing "At NVC". In the email, they said they would send the case file to the Embassy immediately. But the status remains the same.

I understand you completely. I've been trying to expedite the case for months now. I was finally approved this month. My request was based on medical reasons with proof. Each Embassy is different and accepts different reasons. Some are more lenient than others. Some common reasons are: life or death situations, medical reasons, financial hardship, aging out, etc.. I'd say give it a try if you think you have a valid reason. It's better to try than to not try at all.

I just stated that financial hardship and emotional hardship for being long distance.

For my case, it just took about 3 days(friday to monday) to change the status from NVC to embassy.

Thanks for the reply Shemuz. Will attempt expediting. Don't want to be stuck without her if the second wave of COVID hits where everything will shutdown again.
