I said it in the may filers thread, but I'll say it again, congrats! :D Now lets hope we both get our green cards within the next year so we don't end up in expired-driver's-license-with-no-way-to-renew-it Limbo. :P

My NOA is in my married name and I want to get the license in my married name. But I saw on the DMV website they need your social security number. Will it matter that my social security card still has my maiden name on it as I can't get it changed until I get my green card?

Thanks

Florida does not require an SSN. My husband has never ever been asked for his - the site may say it, but I've not seen it in practice.

I'm in Florida and they asked to see my SSN card, so I assume it depends where you go in Florida.

They need to have it on file if you've been issued one. If you haven't been issued one, it doesn't matter as it is not a requirement, as I said.

Do you think it will matter though if my social security card has my maiden name on it and the I-797 has my married name? I really need a Florida drivers license (to drive, change my name at the bank and have an ID to match etc.) and who knows how long it could take to get my green card (FBI name checks etc) as only then am i able to change the name on my social security card.

I live in the St Pete area and have an appointment tomorrow to see if I can renew my license. Fingers crossed theres no problem.

I'd think you'd be ok as long as you have your marriage certificate. I'm the USC and I was issued my new DL (with my married name) by presenting the certificate.
