Thanks!

There was no problem at the DMV today. My husband just showed his NOA from his AOS and they let him take his test  . I told them the I-94 date was for the 90 days we had to get married, then I gave the lady our marriage certificate and the NOAs for AOS and EAD. She didn't want the one from EAD.

I went today and got mine without any hassles. The whole process took almost a half an hour, no written or in-car tests for me (thank God), and I was given a paper that expires in a month from today which is my driving permit. I was told my card should arrive in the mail within the next 30 days and if it doesn't, to go back there to see what they can do for me. I don't know what the expiry date will be on my actual license (didn't think of asking) so when it comes in the mail, I'll let you all know. ;)

It'll be valid for a year if it's anything like my husband's. And they probably should have never given him his. :o

That's what I was thinking after reading a few things on here. Why do you say they shouldn't have given him one? Is he a bad driver or something?

Same permit as you Karly-n-Bruce, however there was a 40 question computer test and a 15 minute drive round a parking lot doing u-turns, emergency stops and parallel parking.

Seems to be quite variation even in Florida at the various DMV centers

Did they take away your Canadian license or did they let you keep it?

She gave it back to me so I'll be renewing that one whenever I can go back to Canada (it expires July 2007) to have it "just in case".

One more question.... sorry. Did you apply for your license in your new married name or your former name?

My married name. She didn't ask for my marriage certificate (I did bring it just in case), but my married name is on my SSN card and on my NOA1 so I guess that's where she got it from. ;)

My husband did get his DL - and it is valid for one year.

If you're a non-citizen in the state of FL then they mail you the ID in up to 30 days.

So, he has a 'temporary' license - which is just a piece of paper stating he has his license. He can use his FL ID as identification in the meantime.

But, yes, he has his DL :thumbs: .

Once my hubby receives his GC then he can renew the DL.

My husband took the test on the computer in Spanish and the road test was in English - so proud of him.
