Oh that’s amazing. I’ll have a look at that link.

He was here before on a fiancé visa in 2015 when we first got married and got his first green card and SSN back then. Then we moved to London for a couple years in 2017. I’m assuming it’ll be the same ssn that he had before....I don’t think that changes right?

The previous card is good for life.

We left and returned like you did.  We received an unrestricted SS card anyway (not applied for, not asked for) about 3 weeks after arrival.  Same SS number.  The first one had a note “authorized to work with DHS approval” or something like that.  The $220 fee can be paid online.  Pay that now if you can get the reference number off of the packet.

My plastic card took 63 days to arrive. I started work less than 2 weeks after I arrived and before my SSN arrived. Any HR professional who doesn’t understand that an I-551 stamp on an immigrant visa is the same as a green card and fulfills the I-9 requirements shouldn’t be in their job.

Timeline in brief:

Married: September 27, 2014

I-130 filed: February 5, 2016

NOA1: February 8, 2016 Nebraska

NOA2: July 21, 2016

Interview: December 6, 2016 London

POE: December 19, 2016 Las Vegas

N-400 filed: September 30, 2019

Interview: March 22, 2021 Seattle

Oath: March 22, 2021 COVID-style same-day oath

Now a US citizen!

My husband just got his visa. We filed a IR-1 spouse visa while we were living in London. His is finally finished, and I’ve been here getting everything set up in the states for a bit now.

He’s arriving next week. The one form in his visa packet said that it could take up to 6 months for his green card to come. I thought it would be much quicker. Any idea how much they actually take on average???  Or is it really going to be that long!!!

About 120 days if you pay the green card fees before entering the US. Mine came within 120 days.
