Just a quick correction, the K1 beneficiary can study (although not work until receiving the EAD card). My husband immigrated on the K1 April 2018, began studying at college June 2018, and didn't get his green card until February 2019.

I may be thinking of out of stats tuition rates.  I remember he was asked for a green card and Social Security number but that may not have been the only option.

My husband received in-state rates. He didn't even have an EAD card yet. I'm not sure if that is the case in all schools, but it was in ours.
