Hi, I'm a little confused. So we can  file for SSN after marriage before filing for AOS?? What about for k2 applicants? Do they need SSN? Thanks in advance

Usually they WILL NOT change  it to your married name because your immigration documents  won't match. But you sure can try. Let us know. We were not able to change her SSN card can't do it till EAD or GC.

We applied in our AOS package in my married name (including my maiden name as a previous name) the instructions online and by the clerk of courts was to take my marriage certificate and ssn to change it after.

I applied for my ssn before getting married. I did it with the condition that you cannot work and for things like bank accounts and health insurance

Better to file BEFORE marriage, but you can file after marriage just don't  mention you are married.

Thank you. I'm assuming you used your maiden name as well?

Yes you can apply in your married  name via the AOS. But at the SSA office  I was referring too. Some people have success others don't. I know what the SSA instructions  say, but what  SSA does is another thing. Good luck keep us posted.

Got my biometrics today, 11/29. Filed 11/6. What happens at biometrics appointments? Is it just the applicant and not the USC? And is there an interview?

Very quick 10 minutes  or less they may ask minimal questions but no interview persay. Not for USC no

Seems like USCIS sent that message in error, then? I haven't seen anyone here skipping the biometrics appointment. And we all had our fingerprints taken at the POE. Hmmm.

Have you gotten the NOA1 letters in the mail yet?

Yes we just got those two days ago.  They said they'll be scheduling a biometrics appointment soon.
