Did you go over to the social security office or it came by itself?

I had to go to the SS office to get one. My husband’s visa expiration date is Dec. Do i have to make an infopass appointment to have his visa extended even though his entry date was 20th September?

Like the visa expiration date is of Dec which is next month and he has not received his green card. He entered 20th of September and his category is CR1

He has 2 years until his visa expires.

The expiration date you see on the visa is the deadline for him to enter the states.

But upon entry, you get an i-551 stamp which serves as your temporary greencard before the real one comes in the mail.

First sentence is wrong, the rest are correct.

Visa expired upon entry.  It became a temporary I-551 aka green card valid for 1 year.

Do you have to file paper work like i485 to receive greencard or just pay the fee online?

I paid the immigrant fee before my husband’s entry

So did I.

Which service centre is processing your case?

Mine is Nebraska and they are the slowest of all the others.

Hmm, how do i figure out which service center it is? It was Potomac after my husband’s case was approved at uscis in the beginning for his visa and all.
