I can not believe it. I did everything right, all the evidence was there, all paperwork, all the approvals went fast up until she went to get her K1 interview in Delhi, even her interview went well.. but then he just gave her a paper(221g) asking for more identification(ration card, voter ID card, voter list).. they never even had it anywhere on their required docs.

I am losing all hope. I know its only been 2 weeks.. but it is stressful and something totally unexpected. I figured if it was just a review they would see the docs and then giv eher the visa.. but its been 2 weeks.. not a peep.

Just stay hopeful! I went with my wife to her interview back on April 5, 2007, and she was denied because the Consul didn't review all of our documentation. After having our lawyer sending in more paperwork to show her she was wrong, it took 6 weeks to get reviewed, but she did eventually get approved and she just came home this week. Good luck and make sure you keep on them to review the additional documentation you sent in!

My wife has been back since June 5, 2007. Now we're just livin' man, L I V I N :)

Your post indicates you are viewing the process like cutting cookies from a sheet of dough. While most people actually do navigate the process successfully by simply meeting the paperwork requirements there are also many couples who have some difficulties along the way. Usually, these difficulties are for a reason or reasons that are quite understandable once we are aware of them.

If the Consulate asked your wife for additional identification, they did it for a reason. Perhaps someone with the exact same name and potentially birth date has already immigrated to the US legitimately or not. They are making sure your fiance is who she says she is.

Facts are cheap...knowing how to use them is precious...

That was actually a calm sane answer, very logical.. unfortunately I hear too many horror stories and maybe need to get a grip... I actually asked 2 congressmen to assist and they have reached out to the consultate to see if they can assist. I wonder if they would piss off the consulate and hurt me. I am so naive I thought this was a straight forward process.. but once you go thru it.. man it is stressful
