MD1,

Not sure about your appointment. But Driver's license is automatically extended by couple of months for most states. So that may be the reason it did not fall into emergency for infopass. Check your states DMV site for more details.

Thanks B&H.  Unfortunately NJ did not give automatic extension for drivers licenses as they are opening DMV on July 7. The USCIS reps told me that I need to document a loss of benefit, family member, employment, or urgent need to travel, etc to get an info pass.

I guess we will have to wait and hope that USCIS start adjudicating our applications. If they have not taken forever to decide on our cases, I would not be in this situation. It seems that there is nothing to be done other than waiting.

Thanks for the recommendation anyways.

My husbands NJ driver license expires the day the extension expires. It’s so frustrating not to have a clue about what to do in this situation and upsetting that USCIS appears not to care about how this is disrupting people’s lives. A drivers license here is imperative to employment imo. They conveniently don’t do infopass, now that they’re needed most?

Some advice from experience, call uscis and ask to speak to a tier 2 employee or higher (you’ll likely wait longer but it’s worth it). The people who initially answer the phone pretty much read from a script and won’t give you any actual answers.

And the furloughs have begun....

Not many questions answered in terms of which offices are going to be mostly impacted, how many employees and for how long but I am sure that will come in time as more news outlets pick it up over the coming days. Key excerpts below:

"It’s unclear exactly how long employees could be furloughed, but USCIS expects them to last longer than 30 days....

...According to the furlough notices themselves, copies of which Federal News Network reviewed, employees will be placed in non-duty and non-pay status for anywhere between 30 to 90 days....

...“At this time, we do not reasonably anticipate the need for a furlough of 90 days or more,” the notice continues. “However, should additional furlough days be necessary, you will be issued another notice.”

I am exactly in the same situation. I called USCIS in early June, and they did not give me an info pass. Immigration officer told me to call back when my drives license expiration approaches. I did that as now in two weeks my license will expire in two weeks, and they said an immigration officer will call me back in 5 business days to determine whether they can give me an info pass. Immigration officer never called. So I called their customer service to follow up, and they said that I am no longer in the queue for a call back as they don't consider this an emergency. I tried to explain my situation, but the customer service rep hang up on me. I tried again, hoping that someone else will be more sympathetic. The second officer also repeated the same line; that this is not an urgency. All they did was to send me an online survey after the phone call whether I am satisfied with USCIS services.

Good luck to you.

Thanks for the answer.

That's so disappointing. How are people supposed to go on with their lives without driving?!!

I don't even qualify for an automatic renewal.

Maybe we should try to talk to a Tier 2 employee as nagylyndsey advised?

Good luck to you too.

Are you making progress on U.S. passport applications?

Yes. Every Thursday, we will publish U.S. passport statistics in the table below so you can track our weekly progress as staff at our agencies and centers safely work on applications. This week, 14 of our agencies and centers moved to phase one of our three phase reopening plan. You can find historical U.S. passport statistics on our Reports and Statistics page.

Wednesday) Applications Received Passports Awaiting Issuance Passports Issued
This Week (June 18-24) 134,000 1.61 million 187,000
Last Week (June 11-17) 120,000 1.72 million 154,000
2 Weeks Ago (June 4-10) 92,000 1.79 million 38,000

*The number of passports currently awaiting issuance is only a slight increase compared to what we have awaiting issuance in normal circumstances during June.

There are ad blockers for mobile devices when using chrome because I've had that issue too. I just get an alert that a pop up was blocked.

Hi all,

I filed my N-400 on November 26, 2019 and completed biometrics on December 4, 2019. I have been on the waiting list for an interview at the Washington DC office since January 2020. The "countdown" to action feature on the MyUSCIS website reached 0 days earlier this month. My estimated case completion time was initially May, then June, and now August 2020, which seems unrealistic.

I'd be grateful to know whether any other November 2019 filers in the Washington DC catchment area have received notification of interview date (even if it was later cancelled due to CV-19). It seems like many November 2019 filers allocated to other field offices have had interviews and even been naturalized by now, but the wait in DC seems much longer.

Thank you,

Sarah

Update on my story: today I received a call from USCIS. The officer was very nice and sounded informed about my case.  I mentioned that my DL is expiring and DMV will not give me a new one unless I prove my residence. She scheduled an info pass. I suggest calling, and if the customer service reps are not helpful,  try to get a tier 2 officer. Good  luck!

Glad to hear it. It's an amazing news.

Hope everything goes smoothly!

Definitely going to call them soon.

I'm not DC, but San Francisco field office has got to be one of the slowest as well... I logged on recently and my husband's app gives us a Dec 2020 finish, but another tracker on their website says 12.5 to 36 months total 😱

It's says they are "actively reviewing" the case now, but it's been like that for months so not sure... Hoping things won't get worse for busy field offices. 🤞
