I believe their response do vary since not everyone gets one real quick. I suggest to keep checking your email and go straight to uscis.gov website https://myaccount.uscis.gov click file on online which will let you log in to your uscis account (this one is only for applications filed online since I believe the one in the app is a different one, remember what I have mentioned to you the other day?).

Hope it helps.

I filed my older daughter’s application yesterday. She just missed naturalizing with me, because she turned 18 a few months before my oath ceremony. It was a straightforward, uncomplicated application given her age. Estimated case completion is 10 months via SF, which is 2 months less than my estimate was around a year ago (my estimate ended up being almost exactly right), so it appears the worst of the backlog is behind us. She’ll be moving to NYC sometime between June and August for the next academic year, and we’ll transfer the application at that stage if it’s still in progress.

That’s fabulous! I so wish we were at one of the faster offices.

Does anyone know if she would be required (by law) to move the case from SF to NYC?

If not required and flights costs to attend the interview + oath are manageable for you, I recommend keeping it at SF as it would significantly extend your time both for the transfer and for higher than usual completion times at NYC field office (that us New Yorkers are subject to).

I see. Since it was filed by mail, there's no other way to check the status but to wait until you receive your N-400 NOA thru the mail. I believe I have seen one who filed by mail and got an NOA letter on our spreadsheet. @CelineDB filed it on Nov 7th and got an NOA 8 days after.

After you done your fingerprints or when you send the application?

01/18/2020 - NOA Biometric scheduled

02/05/2020 - Biometrics done

03/13/2020 - Interview scheduled - canceled due Covid19

08/27/2020 - OATH Ceremony MIAMI FL

Done with USCIS  !!!! Good luck everyone!

You get estimated wait time almost for every step. When you do your fingerprints, you will get estimated wait time to have your interview scheduled.

The immigration process caused me PTSD.

As she is a full time dependent student, she actually has the choice to keep it at our home address or transfer to where she will be at school. I do not believe NYC is slower than San Francisco, but we would certainly look at any updated estimates from VJ when the time comes to make the decision. I know of someone else who did this exact transfer earlier this year and in fact got scheduled for interview just about as soon as the case moved to NYC (SF estimate was still a few more months) as NYC was moving faster than SF and they apparently honor the original priority date on the case.  It’s possible that relative times will have switched by next year of course.  FYI it took me a year to get an interview and another 6 weeks to my oath ceremony in San Francisco this year (took my oath a couple of weeks back).

(I'm less concerned about costs of flights than potential disruptions to her schooling, given that what will  be a half day for an interview or oath turns into 2 days minimum for each because of flight time. )

As per USCIS website and N400 instructions ...paper based application will need to be sent only to following address based on the State in which you reside:

Update I received the biometrics letter today. It's scheduled for December 9th (Monday).  Unfortunately, I will be in NY that entire week. What happens if I go for the biometrics the week after? Do I need to formally re-schedule? If a walk-in is possible, I could so on December 6th (the Friday before) as well.

~AOS : 09/11/2014 - 2 YR Green card received!.

~ROC 07/13/2017 - 10 YR Green card received!.

~N-400 : 10/28/2020 - N400 Interview & Approval/Oath Ceremony/US Citizen!

More Importantly, I am a proud Anti-Fascist!

Hey everyone. Joining the waiting train. I applied for N400 base off of 3 years married to a US citizen. I could of waited till next year March for 5 years but I didn’t feel like waiting. I applied on the 20th and and received an update online on the 23rd that they mailed my biometrics letter and hopefully it comes tomorrow. My estimated completion date is July2020

My biometrics is scheduled for 12/13. I work about a few blocks away from that ASC, so I think I will try doing a walk-in just about everyday until they let me in.

Mine is schedule for this same day but I’m going to try to walk in this Friday, hopefully I get the letter in the mail tomorrow

I would attempt a walk-in (and I’d try it sooner rather than later), explaining the reason. If they let you in, great. If they don’t, use the option on the letter to reschedule. I certainly wouldn’t attempt a walk-in on 6 Dec and then try use the letter to reschedule an appointment that is the next working day, it obviously won’t be received in time and it’s a risk to the application.  Your bio letter should be very clear about the need for rescheduling and the problems of not showing up, unless it’s changed this is all in big bold letters at the top.
