Hi everyone - I'm so thankful for this thread! We received our MTL case number on November 12 but have not yet received packet 3. In reading through your comments and related questions, which I've now learned a lot from, it seems as though I can just go ahead and submit the DS-160 while I wait for the packet 3 to come in the mail??

I had my fiancé get everything ready for packet 3 once I saw it was at the consulate. So once I saw that our case had updated twice (or what they call the second ‘ready’) he immediately sent it in. I just googled Montreal Consulate Packet 3 and the pdf came right up. He never received the packet in the mail, so I would go ahead and get DS-160 filled out and send in packet 3 ASAP

I just got the packet 3 in the mail but I noticed the copy of the original approved k1 petition they sent has an expiry of February 1,2020. Does that mean if the interview doesn’t happen by then (which is doubtful since it’s end of December now), that we have to start the process all over again???

No. This happens quite often (it happened to me too and had me really worried) but it seems to be granted an automatic extension by the consulate as long as you're still involved in the visa process (setting up medical, arranging the interview, etc.). It wasn't even mentioned when I had my interview, even though it "expired" two weeks beforehand. I suspect it exists in part to weed out those who start visa applications and never actually follow through with them.

I received the packet 3 by email and sent all docs they need on Dec 19, but haven't heard anything yet from them , just wondering how long does it usually take to receive the packet 4?

Also I checked on CEAC, my case updated on Dec 20(the day after they received my email regarding to packet 3), does it mean I am ready to schedule an interview?

Packet 4 usually follows within days of receiving Packet 3, but considering the time of year, you may not get a response until things are back up and running at a normal pace in the new year.

And no, you cannot book an interview until you receive the email saying that you can do so. If you go ahead and book it anyway, it will be cancelled.

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday and is looking forward to ringing in the New Year!

My fiance and I just found out that our petition was received in Montreal on Dec 27th and now I'm anxiously waiting for my P3 email.

Since we are spending New Years together, we are going to go through and make sure all of our paperwork is in order.

How is everyone else doing in their process?

Exciting!!! When is yours booked for?

I'm hoping to have my interview booked for end of February or early March if all goes well. Due to the time frame being right in the middle of winter, I think I'm going to take the train so I don't have to risk driving in crappy weather.

Hello Everyone!

I hope everyone's cases are moving along smoothly!

We got our packet 3 in canada and in us by mail and no emails 1-2 weeks before Christmas.

Finally sent it back, and we're trying to gather documents.

However, my fiance lost his immunization records so he has to do blood draw to find out which antibodies he has so he can get the rest of the shots.

Also, he seems to be confused about police report even though I've linked him the answer greenbum posted elsewhere about how to get criminal record for canada.

He is being stubborn and is asking me why he has to go to RCMP when he lives in Calgary where it's not under RCMP area or something like that.

I don't live in Canada so I'm not so familiar with his reasoning.

He also told me process he can do online but it's more expensive than the report he can get by going to their office directly?

Could someone help me to tell my fiance clearly what he needs to do and where for criminal record? I'd greatly appreciate it.

And Happy New Year everyone!

Jan 22 :)

Feb/March seems like a very realistic time line for you,  being that 7-10 is the estimated time for the whole process.

hey there, you don't actually go to the RCMP, you will go to a local place that takes your finger prints (it can be any random company that does this service) and they will ship your fingerprints to the RCMP and then RCMP will mail you your criminal records check. go on google maps and type in 'fingerprint services near me' and then call them and ask if they can give you a rcmp criminal records check under the privacy act, if they can go do it. It is seriously so easy. Walk in, tell them your name, take finger prints, pay, done.

Some people mess up and pay for a "calgary police report" which is NOT the right thing you need. The US consulate in Montreal will say this is not what they want, and hand him a 221G paper asking for the proper one then you will get stuck in Administrative processing for who knows how long.

Thank you guys both so so so much!

I will how him these and so he can find nearest place to take his finger prints ASAP since I heard the whole process can take few weeks.
