What? The president can't have a drink? Sheesh.

He's a recovering alcoholic, so no.

I'm joking!!!!

Oh, OK. I was like...is there a person alive who doesn't know Bush is an alkie?

I know, my sarcasm usually doesn't come through. I tend to forget the :P:jest:

Peace to All creatures great and small............................................

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

OK, I concede the point; he may indeed wish to remain sober. I work with people with alcohol problems, and the vast majority of them would say the same. However, not the same percentage are able to achieve that. And they're not leading the free world, or whatever.

I don't know. If he is drinking again, getting photo'd doing so seems a tad dense. Then again...

Well that's probably the least of his concerns at this point - though no doubt he occupies a high-stress job that would likely drive anyone to drink. Its a fair guess that the temptation for him is that much worse.

It's probably more of a concern for his PR guys.

If he is drinking, should we care? I don't believe he's 'The Decider' anyway. Not to compare the two, but Churchill wasn't immune from the odd tipple. Does it matter? Is this a personal issue rather than a public one? And if it is a personal one, does it make it any different from personal marital issues?

Well it would be if it interferes with his job and/or causes national embarrassment. I still have never forgotten Yeltsin's trip to Ireland where the govt posted a big welcoming committee, complete with red carpet. Plane landed, doors opened and everyone waited for a really long time as Yeltsin's advisors thrust him under a cold shower and plied him with black coffee in an effort to make him presentable.

Circling over Shannon (phr): drunk. Derived from the visit of Boris Yeltsin to Shannon when he was apparantly too drunk to get off the plane. They circled six times to sober him up!
