NVC basically has repeated to me that they are working on the matter and have yet to assign a case #. They would reiterate that they received it on Nov 26 and they cannot give me a time estimate of when a case # will he generated.

Then that is your answer. You have to continue to give it some more time. Call every other day for your updates. You should hear something this week as there is a shipment going out next week.

They probably have it at the embassy already.

Have you checked your e-mail to see if you received the NVC letter that your case was being sent to the embassy at the time?

I have not received an email from NVC that the case was sent to the embassy. I did speak to someone at NVC and they stated they have the Petition but have not created a case # yet.

Do they have to create a case # prior to sending it to the embassy?

Yes they will give it a case number first.  They also ship things to the embassy  every two weeks either on a tuesday or a wednesday.  Usually you need a case number before the friday the week before.  I think the next ship date is 1-7-2020.  If you have updated your e-mail with the NVC then you should get an email from them when it gets shipped.  However for some embassies once you get the NVC number then you can schedule your interview and fill out your DS160.  However i do know that the phillipines is different than most embassies so i would definitely check exactly what to do there.  I know visa journey has alot of information for the phillipines however i am doing honduras so i am focused more on that.

Yes, they have to create the case number as this is part of the process. NVC is responsible not only for K-1's but other visas and some are quota only visas. Without controls, it would be a mess. Have you downloaded the PDF from the first page and followed along? I've tried to write the PDF so that you have everything that you need to keep track of your file. There are links and instructions and these are all the things that we have learned along the way to make this step much easier. Most don't have a problem with the process as I think they don't compare with others and wonder why their's isn't moving along at the same pace. This is a straight path with certain steps that take place and one of those steps is the assignment of a case number. Next will be shipping your case to the embassy and there is instructions on how that works. Just pay attention to the PDF and you will have a much smoother trip. BTW you can't hurry this along so just letting it flow along is my best recommendation.

Yes, they will create a case number first and send it to the embassy. That’s what you use to track your case. Our NOA2 was 11/18. NVC received our case on 12/06 and we got our Manila case number created on 12/11. They sent it to the embassy on 12/23.

Hope they’ll give you a number and send it to embassy soon. And make sure your e-mail address is updated on their system. I’m the beneficiary and I was the one who kept calling and they asked for my e-mail and sent me a copy of the NVC letter too.

Thanks I just downloaded the PDF and I am going through it all. I hope its not out of the ordinary for NVC to assign a case # as someone else here mentioned it only took days for them.

Yes, I am just concerned that it has been more than a month and I have not received a case # yet. Perhaps all cases are different.

Please don't compare your's with others. This is why you are so worried. Every case, every process and every embassy is different. Some take longer and some are shorter but NONE are equal.

Oh trust me speeds can vary.  Mine took nearly two weeks to get and NVC number.  Its taking even longer now because Honduras (It seems although nothing has been shown for sure) is one of the few embassies that assigns an interview date rather than letting you pick one.  So we are just waiting and waiting and waiting to hear from the embassy so we can get our date.  WOOOO HOOOOO

I’ve read posts that took three months before NVC received their case. At least yours is already there. Hopefully you’ll get your case number soon and it will be quick when they send it out.

Best of luck! God bless you both. Happy new year!
