Do you guys reckon the case will be shipped to the embassy on 24th December?

It should be. I believe the unwritten rule is that if you have your case number a week before the shipment date it goes out on that one.

I just tried calling the NVC because is has been exactly a month but they said there are too many calls and hung up on me. I cant even wait on the phone to get to someone. Is there another way to see if they got our case number?

Call later in the day. Much less wait times. I’ve never waited more than five minutes calling after 8pm EST

Are you calling the Non Immigrant line?

try that one if you try calling 7pm-8pm EST the wait should not be that long but its hit or miss thought because yesterday i called at 6pm EST and i only waited 2 minutes.

Also how you would know is you get an e-mail stating that your petition as been sent to the Embassy.

Technically the K1 is classified as nonimmigrant because it’s conditional upon getting married.

I sure hope so but one thing I’ve learned from this experience is that anything can happen!

So my fiance filled out his DS160 and got that submitted today.  However with him being in Honduras it looks like we must wait for the NVC to schedule our interview.   Next week i will make sure i am on the e-mail list and maybe dealing with e-mail it wont take them to long to schedule it.

The K-1 visa is very different from other visas. Here is a brief explanation from USCIS

Overview: What Is a K-1 Visa?

The fiancé(e) K-1 nonimmigrant visa is for the foreign-citizen fiancé(e) of a United States (U.S.) citizen. The K-1 visa permits the foreign-citizen fiancé(e) to travel to the United States and marry his or her U.S. citizen sponsor within 90 days of arrival. The foreign-citizen will then apply for adjustment of status to a permanent resident (LPR) with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). Because a fiancé(e) visa permits the holder to immigrate to the U.S. and marry a U.S. citizen shortly after arrival in the United States, the fiancé(e) must meet some of the requirements of an immigrant visa. Eligible children of K-1 visa applicants receive K-2 visas.
