You could have started that job the day before the interview and it wouldn't make a difference to the CO. That is your CURRENT income.

Great your info makes me feel a whole lot better 👍🙏🤝

Hi

A income requirement query, if anyone has any info and is able to assist!

Our situation is a little different as we are both in the UK currently and plan to move to the US following K1 approval.

We are therefore in a strange situation financially as we are both employed and earning a good salary in GBP, however technically we are unemployed in terms of arriving in the states.

I do not have any family or friends in the US. I am a citizen by birth but my mother moved us back to the UK when I was young. This puts any joint sponsor out of the window.

We have c.£40,000 cash savings. Approx $51,000. We also own a property in the UK.

Is any of this worth anything in terms of financial support? Is there anything else that I can do to help us out?

I don’t want to pay for the medical and final steps of the K1 if this is going to be a no-go!

Here is a quick FAQ on using assets to qualify under the K-1 income value.

Q: How Can I Use Assets to Qualify?

A: Assets may supplement income if the immigration officer is convinced that the monetary value of the asset could reasonably be made available to support the fiancé visa applicant and converted to cash within one year without undue harm to the sponsor or his or her family members.  You may not include an automobile unless you show that you own at least one working automobile that you have not included.

Q: What assets can be used?

A: Any type of asset can be used if it is readily convertible to cash within a year. Liquid assets, such as savings deposits, stocks, bonds, and certificates of deposit will be viewed most favorably because they would be most accessible for the support of sponsored immigrants. Other assets, such as property, may also be acceptable if they can be sold within a year.

Q: What evidence of assets is required?

A: Evidence establishing ownership and the value and location of assets is required. Information on any liens and/or liabilities relating to these assets must be provided. For bank accounts, bank statements for the most recent 12 months, or a letter from the bank stating the date the account was opened, a history of deposits and withdrawals for the past 12 months.

Thank you! A very helpful FAQ- I hunted around the site and the internet in general and I got the impression that property was a no go as it isn’t liquid- however if they are willing to consider something that can be liquidated within a year that is perfect.

I feel very reassured- for now! :)

This thread is so quiet, are there really that few of us for far in Nov?! I feel privileged.

I received my physical NOA2 yesterday (standard mail to the UK seems to take 7 days).

Now I am just waiting to hear from the NVC... I feel like I am wasting time but from the research I have done I cannot book the medical without a reference number from the London embassy, I cannot book the interview. I have applied for the police certificate.

If anyone thinks or knows of something useful I should be doing with this time please let me know!
