Same here! Do we wait to fill out the DS160 or wait for confirmation from the Consulate/Embassy?

I think i heard somewhere that you wait until you received packet 3 from the Consulate, but I dont think there's anything really stopping you from starting it now.

yeah I'm confused too.

I know we need the DS160 completed to schedule the medical exam and the interview but do we need that fill in the the DS160 to get a case number to know if it's received and sent to the embassy?

@Greenbaum

Is it allowed to do the ds-160 prior to getting the p3 for Australia?

Thanks

Look over the information from these links.

Read over this information and follow the instructions:

Join the sub forum for Australia found here

Embassy website

Last go to the top of this page and under the tab "portals" on the blue ribbon choose it and then search for your country. Lots of information there.

When executing your AFP be sure you use "You would choose the Commonwealth employment/Purpose for your Purpose Type and then Code 33 for Immigration/Citizenship as your Purpose of Check."

Also, there is a recent write up of someone's medical experience here:

Yeah we're on day 19 and still nothing. Getting really worried about making the last shipment date of the year.

I just wanted to confirm if our case was actually transferred to the NVC so I called again (lol it’s free, I’m using an app so why not). It was indeed delivered on the 6th. And the person I talked to told me that they’re still working on assigning case numbers to people approved on Nov. 8. I’m not sure in what order they assign case numbers to people, just sharing what I was told.

Congratulations to those who are currently in transit! Have a great week ahead 😊

I tried to look up the DS-160 and it would need your case number on the first page, if I remember correctly. So you don’t need to and can’t complete it without the case number.

It is a frustrating process.  I was about as low as I could get waiting for the NOA2 and then the NVC Received. For the NOA2, I called on the day it was approved, but they told me they were a half a year away from working on it.  I waited through a 3 day weekend all depressed to find out that was approved on the day I had called.  I call the NVC on day 18, they say 6 weeks, I call the next day, and they received it and gave it a case number.  Keep up hope, it is probably close to happening.
