Eh, so, I've been looking through the i944, which is probably too early but whatever. To prove your English proficiency, they ask you to provide documentation proving your language skills. While I still have report cards from high school proving that we learned English, I didn't actually graduate with English as a major/minor on any of those. Does this mean that I have to go to an ESL class when I get there? Do I start studying for the TOEFL and just add those costs to an already expensive process?
Do I just include those and hope that the person who interviews me for my green card decides to approve my application based on our conversation?

No. No. No. and No. The conversation between you and the agent will be enough to judge your English proficiency. Your so far ahead of yourself. Let's get the visa first, move to the states, get married and then file your AOS before you start worrying about such things.

It's the pessimist in me that's already looking for other things that can go wrong. I did find a 20 euro course from Udemy that's certified, but I guess I can wait instead. 😛

Judging by your posts... I think English is the last thing you need to worry about. 🙂

Oh no. I'm worried about the actual form. I'm sure that my English is fine, I just don't know if it's fine on paper. :P

Yikes, I just had a look at that. I hadn't realized that is required for the AOS. I must have not paid attention when people in here were talking about it. So is that for the petitioner to fill out? Or is this for the beneficiary? I'm a bit confused.  Alright, reading the instructions... I guess it's for the beneficiary because petitioners live here and have citizenship.

But still... credit report for the beneficiary? Yikes. I can add my fiance to my credit cards as authorized signer to start building credit, but that's not built overnight. I guess you just answer no?

It looks like it's for the beneficiary, since it has self-sufficiency in the name. Most of those things probably shouldn't be a problem though. Things like existing credit scores shouldn't be a thing. I'll probably just use my Belgian cards until after the AOS, just in case.

The only thing that *really* stands out is the language skills portion. I'm also not certified in Dutch, even though it's my native tongue, so I'll probably leave that off too. I'm not going back to school to get certified in Dutch since I probably won't use it there, just because I need it for the form.

As @Greenbaum said... they can figure that out quickly at the time of the interview. My fiance lived in Ireland for a few years and has now been in Australia for almost 2 years. And he worked in both countries so is that enough? Lol This requirement is giving me headaches!

I know! I'll be fine at the interview, I just don't want them to base it off of the form instead.

I gotcha. I think they will give people a chance to interview first. 🙂 Stay positive!

You are wayyyyyyyyy overthinking this. There isn't a need to be concerned with degrees, certificates or whatnot. You speak and they understand that you have a command of that language. Simple.

Crickets crickets 🦗 crickets 🦗

not much movement for November (if at all)

saw an October filer is at the 125 day mark , so I can’t complain about 105 days.

They haven't begun to work on November as they are still in the middle of October filers. We may see our first November next week or the week after. Stay tuned.

November filers are getting some attention this week - this is just my prediction, so don't yell at me if it doesn't happen. 😂 But that is my hunch!!! Good luck, everyone!
