For those who have just filed your I-129f application with USCIS, this thread has been created for your needs and for you to be with others experiencing different aspects of this journey. This is a place to ask questions and to share experiences. All are here to learn together. Good luck because this is a long process currently running 5-6 months from filing date for your NOA2 approval.

https://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/K1_Process_V11.pdf

Also, since your application will go through a number of background checks this is a primer on what goes on with the background process.

I know it really sucks, but the best way to get through this is to lower your expectations and try not to compare your timeline to anyone else's. Don't forget that the people here on Visa Journey represent a tiny percentage of all the petitions the CSC has to work through! When someone gets to your file you'll hear from them. Stay busy, talk a lot with your fiancé about non-visa stuff, don't forget to hang out with your friends, take up a new hobby, go to a sporting event, and your time will come! Good luck

Explanation why is it taking so long.

I just turned mine in today the excitement has now turned to paranoia that I missed something or should have just N/A in all the blank spots.  There wasn't a preparer or interpreter and it said "if not petitioner" so I'm hoping it won't be an issue.  But after wait a year to finally get it turned it I am excited to be a step closer and beginning the long wait.

I didn't put any N/A's in any places on my form - I had to hire a lawyer because my case is complex and she didn't think N/A was necessary and she does blank responses all the time.  I'm aware its on the instructions to use N/A but...I don't think it matters.  Try not to worry about stuff like this or the next six months are going to be tough!

Welcome to the thread. Here is some information for you to look over. Some you can start on now others you'll need to wait. I post as more of a "heads up" jester.

For all things dealing with the US Consulate in Canada head on over to the sub-forum for Canada where they will answer your questions for the processing of your visa from their personal experience. Link:

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/93-canada/

Birth Certificate and Police Certificate information

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1aa5iWVtFniXGWavXN0zs-94dewD2Fdfy/view?usp=sharing

Here is some additional information. As was stated in the Canadian sub-forum there is an "emergency order" application in Ontario. You need the birth cert that is CERTIFIED COPY OF BIRTH REGISTRATION that has the parents name. You don't want the "parental cert" that is a wallet sized one with parents names but no place of birth, doctors who attended birth etc. The parental one is for parents travelling with kids to prove custody in an easy to use/travel with format. Hope this clears up your question. CALL the registrar and tell them you need to do an emergency application otherwise you will be waiting 15+ weeks. Absolutely the long form is a required LIVE document needed at the interview or you'll get rejected.  I hope this info is helpful and best of luck.

In case you're doing the medical in Vancouver: Dr. Cheema requires you to schedule the interview first in order to book the medical.

Routine vaccinations such as MMR, Tetanus, Flu Shots, etc are offered free of charge in the province of Ontario. Patients can walk into any health care clinical or family physician office and receive these immunizations for free.  it would be better to go and get your vaccinations free of charge rather than pay any additional fees at these the medical exams.

Also there is a discussion about the new requirements for PC and fingerprints found here

Thank you for this information and your response. I do not reside in Ontario, I was born in Manitoba and I believe that my birth certificate does have my parents names on it, do I still have to get this Certified Copy of Birth Registration? Or should I just bring my birth certificate to the interview as well as a photo copy that they can keep? I have no children to worry about for my visa. My interview will be in Montreal and as they do not mail out the results I will have to do my medical appointment in Montreal as well. I am unsure about fees for vaccinations in the province of Manitoba, flu shots are free, but I will check with my doctors. I believe most, if not all, of my vaccinations are usually kept up to date!

Thanks!

Still we rise, here and now
