Hello everyone,

My fiancé went to San Pedro De Macoris this morning to get his passport. When he arrived they told him he had to go to La Ramona and get a stamp on his birth certificate then go back to San Pedro to get the passport. So we just applied for the passport online. Does anyone know what this stamp is for? He said it's a stamp for the passport but I'm thinking it's some sort of authentication stamp. My other question is does anyone know what happens now with the passport application online? Will he have to go to an appointment or will they just let him know when the passport is ready to pickup or will it just be mailed to him? I'm thinking they will probably request the birth certificate with this stamp they were talking about. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

So, I can't provide much help, other than to tell you that my fiance had a TERRIBLE time getting his passport and also had to go to a long string of offices, a bunch of them with me in tote when I was visiting.

Yes, he did have to get a stamp on his birth certificate.  My understanding is that this is to legalize the birth certificate, because they can get them from smaller offices but only the larger ones can legalize it.  He actually had to go to Santo Domingo to get his "stamp." He also had to go and come back multiple times to the passport offices before they actually agreed to issue the passport.

We did not use the online process, so can't help you there.  But it seems like with all governmental things there, persistence is key! If he accepted the first answers he was told by people each time, I don't think he would have any documents yet! Sorry this wasn't more helpful.  Feel free to message me : )

You need an acta inextensa of his BC which he can get in the local Junta of his town and it might have to be a day or two to get it back depending if they do it in SPM or they have to get I delivered from La Romana. Then you pay the taxes thing at banreservas and go to the main junta (probably La Romana in his case) for the passport process. Or SPM. I'm not familiar around those areas so idk which junta. I just know my wife had to get her legalized BC and Kay the taxes at banreservas

You need to have an acta inextensa which he can get from the local junta in la Romana that is where my husband got his and it is the quickest way to get it within a matter of minutes depending on how many people are in that office waiting. Then he has to pay his fees at a banreserva, then take his birth certificate and receipt of payment to the San Pedro de Macoris office for passports. Unfortunately right now they are not doing a VIP which helps “expedite” the process at an extra fee. They will give him an estimated time on when he can go pick up his passport and he will have to go and check on whichever date they give him.

Great information thank you. That answers my question about the Birth Certificate. My other question was about receiving the passport after ordering online.

Do you know about this?

I believe he does have to go to an appointment the online process just helps start the process and payment. At the appointment they will notify him with a date to pick it up. https://www.pasaportes.gob.do/index.php

This is the website where the application is done if this helps any.
