Hi,

Me and my husband been together for 3 years in a long distance relationship and decided to get married last year in thailand where I live.

here is my concern : My family are not too keen about our marriage and they actually don't talk to me because of that so during our wedding my family did not showed up.

I  would like to know if this would be an issue during my interview? if they ask me why members of my family wasn't there such as my mom or dad or how come my husband never met my parents etc... I'm lowkey scared of a denial because of that

we have plenty of proof such as ( travels together ,booked hotel, photos, etc) but don't know if that would be enough

Can somebody in the same situation help ? It would be so nice and highly appreciate it

Thanks

From Portugal, correct.

It is not going to be an issue. Very low risk of being denied because of your parents not being at your wedding or approval.

Embassies are well aware that while same sex marriage is legal in all 50 states, it is not accepted in all cultures.  All you can do is be honest and explain that your family is not supportive and that your relationship with them is due to their choices, etc.

Was your marriage legally recognized in Thailand?

Wrong typo meant portugal so yes my marriage is legally recognized. That's what I'm going to explain to them that I invited them and they did not show up because it's not accepted in my culture.Hopefully everything will go well thanks guys
