This embassy page addresses it. https://uk.usembassy.gov/visas/family-immigration/the-interview-2/?_ga=2.234338653.2112833289.1572263679-1641113824.1489155735

I believe in more recent experiences, the original date has to pass before you can pick a new one. People used to keep looking for sooner openings and re-book. I'm guessing the embassy put an end to that trick by not allowing a new appointment until after the original date had passed.

There was a thread on here but I can't remember who rebooked. They were told to pick "I missed my appointment" when going back to rebook. And that was disturbing because the link I gave above indicates you'll be in trouble if you miss.  Maybe @Zoeeeeeee can remember who posted that thread.

We've rescheduled our date twice without problems. Our date never had past. In fact this last time we picked an appointment at 9am but then realized our plane wouldn't arrive in London on time so rescheduled 30min later for the 11am slot instead.

If you have missed your appointment you have to pay a fee to reschedule so make sure you don't wait.

There were plenty of appointments mere days from booking date. They are mostly the earliest 8am ones, but you can book within a week.

Thank you so much for your input! How did you go about rescheduling? Did you do it online or over a phone call?

Online. They do not accept phone calls at all. All communication is online/via email. But rescheduling is as easy as setting up the original appointment. Good luck!

Was this done in a green colored website https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-gb/iv? Since we did cr1 ours was scheduled by NVC all we did was verified it but we have no option to reschedule.

Oh no! Sorry, didn't realize you were CR1. Yes, via the green website. Just email or use the contact form on the green site then. I'm sure many people have to reschedule those too.

CR-1 here, and I've found the same - no option to reschedule on the green website. Details on the site say you can't reschedule until the initial appointment is cancelled, but there's also no option to cancel, either...

I contacted the embassy via email and they said you have to simply miss your scheduled date, and that unlocks the reschedule feature. I emailed back to check I wasn't misreading that, because it seems like a super impractical way to go about things, and they confirmed yes - you can't reschedule until you've first deliberately missed your appointment. They said there is no option to cancel in advance. You can only miss it.

Following this thread with great interest, because the idea of deliberately missing the appointment after so much waiting makes me nervous.

Wow this has to be the worst process/procedure I’ve heard in my life... I was reading on the UK US embassy website that if you don’t attend the scheduled appointment and do not contact the embassy your case may be closed.

These statements seems to be oxymoron if indeed true.
My wife emailed customer support and she received an automated email that states they will provide her information in 3 to 4 days.

This definitely rings bells - but I can’t for the life of me remember who posted it (and I’ve hunted back for a few months in this forum and can’t find it 😫)!

We received an answer back on our inquiry which states for us to reschedule we have to miss our original appointment. The following day it will say missed appointment and it will allow us to reschedule. This is a very odd process but I'm glad i have this in writing just incase something happens down the line.

Exactly what I remember being posted before.
