We are preparing to file the Adjustment of Status for my husband and had a clarifying question on the I-693. My husband had an official medical examination in Mumbai and they had given him a sealed envelope that he gave the immigration official at the time of entering the country. All the information we found online states that he does not need another medical examination but that "you must still show proof that you complied with the vaccination requirements."

We dont have any other documentation other than the packet he gave at the time of entering the country. Does anyone have any experience with this?

Thanks!

The official information page for the I-693 states:

If you were admitted as a:

A. K-1 fiancé(e) or a K-2 child of a K-1 fiancé(e); or

B. K-3 spouse of a U.S. citizen or a K-4 child of a K-3 spouse of a U.S. citizen; and

C. You received a medical examination prior to admission, then:

(1) You are not required to have another medical examination as long as you file your Form I-485 within one year

of an overseas medical examination; and

(a) The panel physician did not find a class A medical condition during your overseas examination; or

(b) The panel physician did find a class A medical condition, you received a waiver of inadmissibility, and

you have complied with the terms and conditions of the waiver.

(2) Even if a new medical examination is not required, you must still show proof that you complied with the

vaccination requirements. If the vaccination record (DS 3025) was not properly completed and included as

part of the original overseas medical examination report, you will need to have the Part 10. Vaccination

Record completed by a designated civil surgeon. In this case, you must submit Parts 1. - 5., 7., and 10.

of Form I-693.

* Moved from K-1 P&P to AOS from K-1. Question is about the AOS process. *

A copy of the DS-3025 should have been in the sealed packet provided at POE. Some people send a copy of it as well with their I-485 packet.

If the DS-3025 is marked as complete then no I-693 is needed when filed within 1 year of the exam.

Edit: either way, an I-693 is not needed at the time of filing anyway.

@geowrian Thank you so much, for your prompt response!

One clarification: given that medical packet was sealed, we never saw the DS-3025. We assume it is marked complete as the doctor who was doing the medical examination told my husband that everything in order.

Also, in terms of your statement: "Some people send a copy of it as well with their I-485 packet", how do people get a copy of it?

Thanks again!

Normally a copy of the DS-3025 is provided at the end of the medical. Or at least upon request.
