A few questions and arriving on K1

My fiancé arrived here yesterday on the K1.

My soon to be husband and I are downloading the forms for AOS and beginning to tackle the forms to send in.
We will have our Marriage Certificate November 8th.
A few questions ;

1. Is there a good forum or post that explains how best to assemble his packet ?

2. He arrived yesterday through POE and was given nothing back but his passport that was stamped (I assume is correct as his copy of his medical form was given to him already at his appointment)

What should he carry in case he needs to show he is “legally” here?
His passport is stamped and says K1 and gives the date to expire on it) or should he carry his I94 travel doc as well ? Anything else he should carry ?

3. We will be attempting to acquire his social security number next week and I have printed out the form on here that states a K1 is eligible for ss number without “work authorization” and we have filled out the SS 5.

Is there anything else we should bring with us to the government office besides the SS5 with proof of ID and I94 ?
(I did notice a few posts that say we should wait two weeks prior to try and receive his ss number ? )

thanks

In the old days it took two weeks for I-94 cards to be manually entered into the system. But with the electronic I-94s now it’s much quicker. Would suggest you go this week if you can, no need to wait two weeks. The sooner he has his SSN, the easier it is to get other things rolling.

Timeline in brief:

Married: September 27, 2014

I-130 filed: February 5, 2016

NOA1: February 8, 2016 Nebraska

NOA2: July 21, 2016

Interview: December 6, 2016 London

POE: December 19, 2016 Las Vegas

N-400 filed: September 30, 2019

Interview: March 22, 2021 Seattle

Oath: March 22, 2021 COVID-style same-day oath

Now a US citizen!

Ok. Will do. I will make arrangements than so I can take him tomorrow after work.

Fingers crossed they will issue it as I know that’s a big challenge with the K1s.

I am buried in paperwork with AOS but I know it comes with the K1 territory.

Also the wait times with him being able to work.
We have a wait time for interview of 8 to 32 months in Chicago. 😱

Had I actually found this forum prior to submitting the K1 and after what I’ve read during our wait for approval, I would have went CR1 without a doubt.
That I do know with certainty.
Thanks @JFH

He should also go to SSA with his Birth Certificate.

This link should guide you on filling the AOS form and assembling documents:
