Apologies in advance if this is the incorrect sub-forum for this question. I am a conditional LPR and my two year green card expires next year and I will be applying to remove conditions based on 2 year green card from K1.

It is my understanding that I can file the i765 90 days prior to the expiration date on the card.

My question is when I do file I will receive a receipt which extends the green card for 18 months whilst they process the case. I know processing times are taking longer than usual and if I do not receive this receipt prior to the expiration date can I continue working or do I need to stop?

Additionally, once I get this receipt do I need to show this to my employer to update I9 paperwork or no?

Wrong forum,  yes

Auto extension,  yes

You really should have posted your ROC-related question in the ROC forum as apposed to this the AOS forum. It is a common inquiry and there are generally several similar-themed threads.

A forum mod should move your inquiry to the proper forum.

If this can be moved by a mod to the correct forum that would be appreciated, thanks

Hit the report button, in the upper right hand corner of the screen and ask for it to be moved. 👍

Why do you want to file for employment authorization? You're already authorized to work.

You need to file I-751.

You can continue to work. If needed you can always get the I-551 stamp if the 18 months extension expires.

Apologies I meant i751, in short my question is in the scenario that you do not receive a receipt from the i751 by the expiration date of the green card do you notify your employer or continue working until you receive the receipt?

Or is the main action to go for a I551 stamp as you have not received the receipt from the i751 application that was submitted?

How slow are the processing times for the i751 just to get the receipt? Is it fair to say that this can be expected to be received before the green card expires if you submit your application exactly 90 days prior?

You continue working. Check out the manual for employers: "Do not reverify the following documents after they expire: U.S. passports, U.S. passport cards, Alien Registration Receipt Cards/Permanent Resident Cards (Form I-551), and List B documents." https://www.uscis.gov/i-9-central/51-reverifying-employment-authorization-current-employees
