Additional joint sponsor after DQ

Hey guys, I was DQ'd last week but got a message at the same time which said my wife does not meet the minimum income requirement to sponsor the intending immigrants for this case. The consular officer will make a decision regarding this requirement at the time of the interview.

They also comment saying to avoid delays, an additional Affidavit of Support Form I-864 for a joint sponsor may be submitted.

My wife was in medical school last 4 years and only started working this June as a resident. She submitted her contract with the hospital and pay stubs for the last 4 months but still wasn't enough.

I was wondering if anyone had this same issue? Does anyone know if it will delay my interview if I do submit additional affidavits of support?

That's a normal message, best to bring a filled out I-864 with a joint sponsor to the interview to avoid administrative processing/221g.

Yes I had the same problem it better you get the affidavit even if u go for the interview they will request for it and that’s where you will see the delay. So get it ready before interview

Hopefully I can shed some light on this. We also got this message after DQ and my wife just had her interview last week where they approved her visa.

After you receive the interview date anything you submit to through CEAC will go directly to the consulate. This period of few weeks between receiving interview date and the actual interview date is the golden period where you can submit documents directly to consulate without adding extra time since it allows them to review the documents before the interview.

The message below will appear on the main page but you do not need to contact the consulate.

After you add the documents but before you hit the 'submit' button you should also receive a message that says the documents uploaded now will be sent for review to the consulate and if they have any questions they will contact you.

Don't add the joint sponsor until you see these two messages on CEAC, they didn't appear immediately after DQ - the one on the main page and the one right before you submit.

It is a good idea to provide the maximum amount of information possible.  For joint sponsor we gave:

-I-864

-Passport copy

-Proof of citizenship

-Proof of US domicile (mortgage and insurance bills)

-3 years tax returns

-3 years tax transcripts

-3 years W-2's

They didn't ask her anything related to the joint sponsor during the interview since everything was already uploaded.

Let me know if I can be of any further help.

Don't be alarmed by that standard message.  The Consular Officer is going to make the final decision.  Unless you'll be interviewing in Mumbai, chances are you'll be fine without a joint sponsor, but you could always take a joint sponsor's financial package to the interview, just in case.

Here's a context in which the petitioner would not combine income with household members.  If any household member qualifies on their own as a joint sponsor, then the petitioner should not combine income with them.  This is particularly true when the petitioner  has on income at all.  In that case, the qualifying household member should be the only joint sponsor, with their OWN I-864, and if married filing a joint tax return, their spouse should provide an I-864a whether they have any income to combine or not.

In the OP's case, nobody qualifies on their own, so income is properly and most likely successfully combined.
