I know this is a total random guess... But how long do you think a couple filing for the K-1 through Morocco with no red flags will be on AP/AR? I was going to move back to CA at the end of this month alone and wait for my fiance there... but then I started thinking if he could be here by then, I'd rather wait forhim here and spend one month together in NY before we moved to CA together. If his interview is this coming Monday the 11th, could he easily be approved by the end of June? How likely do you think it is? I know its a guess but I haven't been around here long enough to see what the average wait time is for Morocco. Thanks so much!

Average seems to be about 2 weeks or so. But you never know with name checks. It could be more if he has a popular name, it could be less. Some people are on AP for months on end and others just a couple of weeks.

I don't think that a lack of red flags will speed up AP through Casa. Basically, if they have doubts, they're gonna spend it back. I think that length of AP is pretty much luck of the draw, depending of course on the name. If you want my best educated guess, I'd say you've got like a 2/3 chance of him getting the visa before the end of June.

ETA: Of course we don't know if the closing will affect the length of AP's....

no, i do. but i'll have to tell him like TOMORROW if i'm going to. he's already showing the place but no one has signed a lease yet. if i tell him i'm staying another month he'd let me.

Ok, well I don't understand what the drawbacks would be to you staying there through July. Worst case scenario - you stay through July and he doesn't make it here by then and you'd have paid one more month's rent. Personally, I think it's worth the risk because I just think it would be so much better to have him be able to come and spend some time alone with you as opposed to moving in with your parents, which could potentially be stressful. If you stay in NY through July, can you secure an apt in California for Aug. 1? Or would staying with your parents be a part of the plan regardless?

i appreciate your advice, jenn! i love hearing an outside opinion when my brain is going haywire trying to decide. i think you're right. its not like my rent is $5000 a month or anything.

its possible we could find a place by august 1st in ca, but i think its likely we'd move in with my mom first and look while there. or stay with a friend of mine who lives closer to the area i want to be in.

Anytime!

Your reunion will be great no matter where you are. But I think it is worth the risk to have that "alone time" in the beginning. I'm sure if when Wadi came we had to live with my parents or anyone else for that matter, things would have worked out just fine. But I sure appreciated having him all to myself. :luv:
