Email IV- Documents (i'm dumb, i know)

Hi!

I just received the email IV; Frankfurt consulate is " ready to begin final processing of the immigrant visa applicant(s) named below in this case. I followed the link and asked for an appointment to be scheduled (now waiting for another email, again...). Problem is, I made a mistake previously. Since for the I-130 petition it was enough for the translation to be done by anybody, writing underneath that they were able to translate etc, i thought this would be ok even at this phase. Obviously i was wrong, the translation needs to be certified, like, for real (more money, yeee!). So they requested me:

(  ) Birth certificate - certified translation (the one you mailed to us is not from a certified translator) or bring the original international birth certificate

(  ) Marriage certificate - certified translation (the one you mailed to us is not from a certified translator) or bring the original international marriage certificate

(  ) Police certificates from:  Italy – certified translation (the one you mailed to us is not from a certified translator)

I have the birth and marriage certificate in the international version (i sent them a copy, but not the original, that i have with me), so no problem for those. Problem is, i mailed them the italian police record and i did not make a copy of it (yes, i'm stupid). So now i have no idea how to obtain a certified translation, since the original of it is in frankfurt! I emailed them, asking at first another thing: since I am italian but live in Germany, the german police record that i provided (for which no translation is needed) contained an extra page, regarding the crimes committed in Italy (nothing); i asked them therefore if it that page could not be enough, since it is official too.  If they will answer negatively, i will have to ask them...what? to mail me back the italian police record? to send me a scan?

Sorry. I was so proud of having done everything right up to this point. And then this. Anyone has an idea of how to fix this?

You have to get another police certificate from Italy and have it translated and certified. Unfortunately, mistakes cost you time, and you just learned it the hard way. Is it easy to get one from Italy? Some countries you can get it same day or a few days and some countries it takes months.

It's not hard in itself, but considering i live in Germany, it means that i have to request it online, have someone there get it and mail it to me. Because making the request for them to mail it to me in Germany is way too complicated.

Why do you think the page referring to Italy in the German Police Record could not be enough? It is an official document...

Oh, I misread your post. I thought they already answered "negatively" but now realized they haven't answered yet. I still don't think they will accept the German page, because it is NOT an official Italian document. If I were you, I would work on requesting another one from Italy anyway, while waiting for the Embassy's answer as to if it's acceptable or they will mail you back the Italian report you submitted (I doubt either one of those things will happen and it will take a long time for them to respond and they may not even respond at all). That's why you need to work on plan B which is getting another Italian police cert.

Piece of cake :))

Just be glad it's not like China where you have to appear in person at the local police station and you have to pay off the official in order for them to give you one.
