Affidavit of Support letters

Hi All,

Could anyone please give me an idea about what sort of things need to be in the Affidavit of Support letters for the I-130 Petition?

Or does anyone have a template or something that they used when they were going through the CR1 process?

Thanks!

Ben

Are you talking about an affidavit for submitting?  If so,   Affidavit of support is not needed in the intial stage of the application.  Only needed in the nvc stage/embassy stage

Hi,

I'm referring to the letters of support from friends and relatives as part of the proof of a Bona fide marriage stage to support the Petition.

We need to rely quite heavily on these as we don't have shared finances / property / children at this stage.

Thanks,

Ben

ah ok,  I'm exactly not sure about those, bu there have been plenty of previous topics on that here on the forum.  I'm sure you can find the answer.

The i-130 instructions outlines what information should be included e.g. names, address etc. As for the body of the letter don't use a template the person should write about how they know you to be a real couple. Share how they met you and their experience of you as a couple. Each FB_IMG_1571333231070.thumb.jpg.75d84a4463a77aa39b7eb7fb42cc1c16.jpgshould be different since they should be written from the heart in the person's own words.

My husband asked to his closer friends and family to write letters about us, there is no template I think is more a personal letter from the people who know you and your spouse about who they met you and your spouse and what they can say about your relationship, then they need to sign the letter with an original signature and that should be enough. In my case we had letters from my husband roomie, he said he always saw us cooking together and having fun all the time in the same way my husband friends wrote a nice letter about how long he has been best friend of my husband and the activities that we did all together while I was living in the US, in the same way my husband family wrote letter about our wedding ceremony.

We made those letters according to our lawyer instructions!

Good luck! :)

Couples living apart in separate countries will not be expected or required to have shared finances, property, or children.  As for these affidavits, they carry little to zero weight in the overall evaluation of a file so relying "quite heavily" on these is not the best path.  Instead, your focus should be on any kind of evidence of time spent together in-person; examples of this are pictures, passport stamps, tickets/receipts from any local attraction etc., there are limitless possibilities.  Evidence of time spent together in-person will be your strongest evidence.
