My warmest condolences to the family and many friends of Congressman Elijah Cummings. I got to see first hand the strength, passion and wisdom of this highly respected political leader. His work and voice on so many fronts will be very hard, if not impossible, to replace!

Yet again, I hear no conservatives saying "I'm glad he's dead" or "I hope he suffered" or "Good riddance" or similar.

Compare this to what leftists wish on the President and everyone else.

Agree or disagree with Rep. Cummings, he was a human being with a family and people who loved him.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

You know from living here in Texas we don't like to trash the dead until they are buried and gone. Once in the ground though gloves come off.

He had been through a lot physically so not surprising. His death was unexpected to some as he was a very private man, but word travels fast in medical circles after the fact. He had recently been put in a very good hospice program and was fighting a very serious issue that may have never resolved from previous hospitalizations. My own theory on the subject is that he should have picked a better hospital....  It was largely the reason why he needed help with his mobility. He continued working right up until his death yesterday even from hospice.

Remembering Congressman Cummings with his own words:

 

"I've often said on the floor of the Maryland House of Delegates that our world would be a much better world, and a much better place, if we would only concentrate on the things we have in common, instead of concentrating on our differences," Cummings said. "It's easy to find differences, very easy. We need to take more time to find common ground."
