Please understand me...I said teach or if necessary their CHRISTIAN brothers and sisters...this comes straight from the Bible. It is meant as an instruction to elder Christians to help the younger ones in their faith and walk. It is not an excuse to attack the general public.

Some people just take it too far or approach it in the wrong way. They really irritate me....these loud mouth so-called Christians take the religion and turn it into one of persecution instead of love and forgiveness. Christianity is supposed to be welcoming....not damning.

The Teenage Bill of Rights

We, a new generation of young Americans, in order to protect the heritage of our forefathers and secure the blessings of liberty for ourselves and generations to come, do affirm and pledge this declaration:

When character and morality are uncommon qualities,

When corporations and marketers seek to profit from our destruction,

When pop culture icons do not represent our values,

When Judeo-Christian beliefs are labeled as intolerant,

When activists seek to remove God from our schools,

When truth is deemed relative and unknowable,

It is necessary for us, the emerging generation of young Americans, to stand for what is right and reclaim the values that have made our nation great. We call our nation to a higher standard, a lifestyle based

not on convenience, but on character,

not on what is easy, but on what is excellent,

not on what feels good, but on what is good,

not on popularity, but on principle,

not on what is tempting, but on what is true.

We, as young Americans, assert our right to determine our future and the future of our great nation. We hold these truths as our God-given rights, and we embrace them with our hearts and our lives:

We recognize that God, our Creator, is the source of all truth.

We will live with honor, always striving to do the right thing, even when it is unpopular. We will be honest and truthful in matters large and small, regardless of the consequences.

We will take responsibility for our actions, and not point to governments, schools, celebrities, parents, or friends to justify our wrong decisions.

We recognize that we are responsible for our mistakes. We will pursue purity throughout our lives.

We will not be seduced by a fabricated idea of sex and love.

We will save our bodies and hearts for our future spouses, and once married we commit to pursue faithful and enduring relationships.

We will see through the lies of drugs and alcohol and refuse to let any chemical influence our thinking or destroy our lives.

We will respect the authorities placed in our lives, even though some may not live as honorably as they should.

We will honor our parents, teachers, and other leaders.

We will reach out with compassion to the hurting and less fortunate, both in our society and around the world.

We refuse to be absorbed with our own comforts and desires.

We recognize the value of each life, whether born or unborn, and we seek to protect those who are unable to protect themselves.

We will do our best to represent and communicate our Creator to our peers, leaders, and society as a whole.

We will work to see that every person has the opportunity to see and hear about the true nature of our God.

In signing, we commit to pursue a life that exemplifies these standards.

We refuse to sit idly by and witness the destruction of our generation.

With God's help, we envision a bright and prosperous future for the nation we love.

I don't see anything in this that is wrong or "facist" as San Francisco put it. Sounds perfectly legitimate. These are soon to be voters, they are consumers and they are stating what they will and will not tolerate to those that are listening-government and corporations. Good for them. I applaud their efforts.

Aye, but if they had put that message across as a non-religious one, someone might have listened. Since it's a Christian group, their "protests" will be ineffective. Too many others have ranted and raved and tried to control society (think prohibition) that no one really listens to them any longer.

and they are gonna be voters easily bought by religious proposals rather than political ones.. goodbye separation of church and state

Hell, that's how GW Bush got elected this last time. He put out the call to conservative Christians and they answered. The younger liberal generation couldn't be arsed to put down their iPods long enough to go to the polls.

Lady, people aren't chocolates. Do you know what they are mostly? Bastards. ####### coated bastards with ####### filling. But I don't find them half as annoying as I find naive bobble-headed optimists who walk around vomiting sunshine.

i think it's better to educate the kids rather than hide the filth from them.. when u teach them bout the real filthy life they can undestand it better than when u hide everything from them and then they discover it with or withouth u

"Teaching" is different than blatant sex in advertising and on TV, in magazines, etc.

Hell, that's how GW Bush got elected this last time. He put out the call to conservative Christians and they answered.

Thank God.

Do any of you non-Christians agree that pop culture is full of filth that children shouldn't be seeing? I think it's the parents' responsibility to make sure their children aren't being subjected to stuff like that, but it's getting pretty difficult to do that when it's EVERYWHERE - TV, movies, the internet, magazines, books, advertisements... I mean, I know sex sells but does everyone have to use that to get publicity??

Yes, I agree that there is far too much material out there that encourages kids to grow up waaaaaaaaaaaaay too fast. I also agree that the responsibility for how much of this a child sees falls on the parent. But we have to accept that using sex as a sales technique is not going to disappear, so we choose how to deal with it appropriately. Religion sells also - look at the recent hype over the Da Vinci Code movie and the ensuing discussions related to that. Why do protestors wanting to cut down on abortion, promiscuity and gay marriage always have to use Christianity to sell their argument? Do you see the parallel?

Religious ethics and morals fall into the same category to me, in the sense that it is better to discuss them and consider which you consider to be apprpriate to you and your life. Sex before marriage is a great example; although it's essentially a religious moral, many atheistic people adhere to it because it is in line with their personal belief system. Is it more important to indoctrinate our kids, shelter then from everything we consider to be immoral, or should we give them the tools to think freely and critically, make their own minds up and to deal with the world as it is? I think the latter.

Make sure you're wearing clean knickers. You never know when you'll be run over by a bus.

Because Christianity is WHY we think we should ban abortion, gay marriage, and cut down on promiscuity. How many of us Christians would have the same strict morals if we weren't Christian?

Yeah, that's exactly what I said. I always did enjoy when you put words in my mouth (or words in my post, rather).

Let me ask this though - how many of you NON Christians are anti gay marriage, anti-abortion, anti gay adoption, will be disappointed if your children have sex before marriage, are anti children-out-of-wedlock, and drink little to no alcohol?

there's morality even if there's no religion.. thats a basic principle..

I disagree. At least, there's not MUCH morality without religion.

there's morality even if there's no religion.. thats a basic principle..

I disagree. At least, there's not MUCH morality without religion.

Just the point I made earlier. Lots of Christians think they hold the patent on morality.

However....

I am not Christian. I am Pagan.

I am anti-gay marriage. I am anti-gay adoption. I would be disappointed if my child had sex before he was an adult; I don't care about the marriage part. THAT part is religious. I am anti-children-out-of-wedlock. And I drink the equivalent of a 12 pack of Guinness per year.

However.....who says that all of these are "moral"? I am against gay adoption because of the effect on the child. They will grow up being ridiculed, and that isn't fair to the kid. I am against using the word "marriage" in regard to same-sex couples. Marriage is defined as a union between a man and a woman. If they want to form a "union", fine. Call it something else, though.

I am against having children out of wedlock because I honestly believe that a child needs a father and a mother. I grew up with a mother-only for the better part of my life, and I've had to work for years to get past all of the ####### in my life that that caused. I also am VERY tired of paying for 17 year olds to pop out kids, go on welfare, then leave the kid in care of the grandma while the 17 year old goes out, parties, and gets pregnant again. (Happens around here all the time)

Alcohol - I just don't like being under the influence of anything. Some years I'll drink more, some I'll drink less. I've never driven drunk,I have never gotten into a bar fight, and I've never woken up not knowing where I was.

Many of the Pagans I know are more "moral" than a lot of the Christians I've met. For instance, I don't know a single pagan who would claim that their way was the only way and everyone else was condemned to an afterlife of torment. I consider it immoral to interfere in the lives of others.

Lady, people aren't chocolates. Do you know what they are mostly? Bastards. ####### coated bastards with ####### filling. But I don't find them half as annoying as I find naive bobble-headed optimists who walk around vomiting sunshine.

It's not about loving them though. I love my friends and family regardless of whether or not they're gay or have an abortion or have sex with a different person every night. Or all three at once! Wait, that might be impossible... :P
